As a long-time soap opera enthusiast who has seen more than my fair share of family drama, I must say that Stacey Slater’s current situation is a perfect storm of Walford chaos. From love triangles to financial woes, and even a touch of murder cover-up, it seems like the poor girl can’t catch a break!
Currently, Stacey Slater (played by Lacey Turner) is dealing with quite a bit – it seems certain aspects of life in EastEnders remain consistent for her!
Apart from Ruby Allen, Stacey’s old friend, romantic adversary, and foe, who happens to be Louisa Lytton, making a comeback, Stacey’s mother Jean (Gillian Wright) has fallen prey to a scam and unfortunately lost all her savings.
As a devoted friend and even former spouse, I can’t help but put aside my own concerns to cheer on Eve Unwin (Heather Peace), my best pal, in her heartfelt pursuit of reconnecting with Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal).
Indeed, Stacey continues to reside under the shadow of her involvement in the concealment of Keanu Taylor’s (Danny Walters) murder.
The actress hints that maybe, at some point in the future, the connection between Stacey and Ruby might be restored – but not for quite a while yet.
Additionally, she expresses her affection for the duo, Stacey and Eve, and discusses how Stacey manages in the face of Jean’s recent turmoil.
Read on for the full interview ahead of another chaotic week for the Slaters!
Over the past few weeks, life has been quite tumultuous for Stacey. She’s had a falling-out with Eve, her old friend Ruby, who became an enemy, has returned to Walford, and to top it all off, her mother was recently scammed. How is she coping?
It seems that Stacey’s life is quite busy right now. Nish is informed about the recent Christmas happenings, Eve has disappeared, Ruby has unexpectedly shown up, and Martin just welcomed another kid into his family!
As a cinephile, I can’t help but notice that something’s off with Stacey’s mom. It seems to me that she’s got a lot brewing beneath the surface, and it’s clear that Stacey is feeling the tension, living on the edge of her seat, so to speak.
How does Stacey feel to have Ruby back in her life?
It seems that Stacey isn’t feeling particularly joyful. She has serious doubts about Ruby, to the extent that she wouldn’t trust her even at arm’s length. Their last encounter didn’t go smoothly, as evidenced by Stacey serving six months in prison due to Ruby’s deceit.
It’s uncertain if they can overcome that issue, but it seems like Stacey is making an effort to act in Martin’s and his child’s best interests.
Stacey seems to have some maternal feelings for Ruby, yet she appears cautious and maintaining a distance from her.
Do you think their friendship stands a chance, or will Stacey always be wary?

Currently, the bridges are burned in Stacey’s life, but perhaps with time, things might take a different turn.
Was Stacey concerned about her mother and the overall Slater family finances, since she discovered that Jean had fallen victim to a scam last week?
In my opinion, as a film enthusiast, the Slater family’s financial woes are a constant theme that never ceases to amuse – they seem to run out of money just as quickly as they might win it! [Chuckles] Adding to their struggles is the unpredictability surrounding the mental health of their matriarch, which adds an element of concern that keeps you on the edge of your seat.
It’s hard to predict whether the situation will resolve swiftly or worsen with Jean, and that’s why she’s always quite anxious about what might happen next.
This week, I’m finding myself curious about how my friends Eve and Stacey’s bond has been affected after the revelation Bernie made at Christmas. I can’t wait to catch up with them both and see how they’re handling this new development in their friendship.

I appreciate the bond between Stacey and Eve because even when they make mistakes, their deep friendship allows them to swiftly overcome disagreements. They can argue passionately, express their feelings honestly, and then put the issue behind them, moving forward together.
Eve finds it in her heart to forgive Stacey, while I feel the situation with Suki is distinct due to the unique nature of their relationship. Stacey is trying to show Eve that it’s unfair to apply different rules to her compared to Suki.
Do you think Stacey ever wanted to tell Eve, and what were her reasons for not telling her?
Absolutely. On several occasions, she considered sharing this information with her, but ultimately decided against it for her safety and that of others. Keeping it a secret seemed to be the wiser choice.
