EastEnders’ Natalie Cassidy: ‘Reiss is a psycho – it’s a really dark storyline’

As a seasoned EastEnders viewer with over three decades of Walford dramas under my belt, I must say that this latest twist has me reeling! Sonia Fowler, a character I have watched grow from a mischievous schoolgirl to a troubled mother, is now charged with a murder she didn’t commit. It’s a turn of events that would make even the hardiest of Albert Square residents do a double take.

In the popular soap opera “EastEnders,” character Sonia Fowler, portrayed by actress Natalie Cassidy, has been formally accused of killing Debbie Colwell.

In an unexpected turn of events, Johnny Freeman (Reiss) has let his expectant bride-to-be bear the blame for the terrible deed he was responsible for.

According to Cassidy, this situation is Sonia’s biggest nightmare as well, though she may not realize the full extent of it.

“She’s deeply concerned because she feels the situation unfolds so rapidly and unexpectedly that it could harm her fragile pregnancy due to the immense stress and trauma involved. Her primary worry is losing her baby or having it taken away, as was the case with Bex. She fears a recurrence of past events.”

In a turn of events, Reiss skillfully persuaded Sonia that he hadn’t been the one responsible for Debbie’s death during his visit in the cell. As reported by Cassidy, Sonia now fully trusts him and even apologized for her doubt.

While he’s got Sonia wrapped around his finger, Cassidy thinks Reiss is a “psycho”!

“I find it hard to comprehend that he’s taken such actions! To the extent that she’ll bear the consequences, yet he remains silent about his involvement. It leaves you thinking, ‘Wow, he must be insane.’ It’s quite unsettling and ominous; I can’t wait to see how this unfolds.”

Fortunately for Son, Cassidy believes there are many supporters on Albert Square. However, does this guarantee her exoneration remains to be seen?

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7:30pm on BBC One and from 6am on BBC iPlayer.
