For the very first time, viewers of the long-running BBC soap opera EastEnders get to influence a significant plot twist during a special event celebrating the show’s 40th anniversary week.
In this rephrased version: Denise Makes a Choice, You’ll Find Out – Denise Fox, a beloved character played by Diane Parish, will ultimately decide between her two romantic prospects, Jack Branning (Scott Maslen), her former spouse, and Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara), the younger suitor, who are both eager for her affection.
The crucial point marks the peak of many narrated months, during which Denise and Jack have had numerous romantic exchanges, whereas Denise and her old flame Ravi reignited their connection on Christmas Day.
Last night, the BBC unveiled a sneak peek of upcoming events, giving viewers the power to decide who Denise will choose among the two men. The outcome of this choice will be disclosed during EastEnders’ anniversary week in a live broadcast.
As a passionate movie critic, I’m thrilled to share the exciting news that the creators of EastEnders have given us, the audience, an unprecedented opportunity! For the very first time, we get to determine the direction of one of their major storylines. It doesn’t get more engaging than this!
The audience’s votes will decide whether Denise chooses between Jack and Ravi in the upcoming live episode. With plenty of developments ahead for all three characters, the suspense is high as we wait to find out which direction the audience steers the narrative!
For fans to cast their votes, it’s essential they register for their BBC Account by no later than Wednesday, 19th February 2025.
The voting process begins at 8:30pm that night through BBC.co.uk/EastEnders and ends on Thursday, 20th February at 7:10pm. Immediately following the closing of votes, the results will be featured in a real-time episode airing merely 20 minutes later.

Speaking about being at the heart of the surprising incident, Denise actress Parish expressed: “It’s fortunate. I’ve been incredibly lucky during my tenure on EastEnders, especially in recent years.
It seems that Chris Clenshaw knows Denise exceptionally well, providing me with the most thrilling two years in this series yet. I can’t help but express my gratitude towards the creative team behind the show, as they have crafted such intriguing storylines for Denise.
She mentioned: “These tales provide an opportunity for me to display my abilities, and no matter what challenges come my way, I’ll strive to give it my all!
About Ravi’s emotions, Thiara noted: “It’s clear that Ravi has deeply fallen for Denise. In the lead-up to their anniversary week, we observe Ravi becoming increasingly open about his feelings, even going so far as to express them directly to Denise.
As a cinephile, I can’t help but notice the depth in their characters. They both harbor a sensitivity because they don’t want to be overshadowed, disregarded, or sidelined. It takes a great deal for Denise and Ravi to acknowledge their feelings towards each other.
Meanwhile, Maslen responded: “Jack feels devastated over Denise and Ravi, yet he clings to hope. He believes there might still be a connection with Denise, and he’s picking up some ambiguous signs.
Occasionally, when Jack and Denise are in each other’s company, their interactions seem to have an innate warmth, even though they’re currently apart. Despite their numerous challenges that led to their separation, I don’t feel like Jack has given up hope on this relationship – not completely at least.
