EastEnders reveals Nicola Mitchell’s big secret in early iPlayer release

As a film enthusiast with a penchant for soaps, I must admit that the latest episode of EastEnders left me absolutely spellbound! The way Nicola Mitchell (Laura Doddington) made her grand entrance into Walford and immediately turned it upside down was nothing short of masterful storytelling.

In the most recent installment of EastEnders, the hidden truth about Nicola Mitchell (Laura Doddington) came to light, as her standing among the residents of Walford took a nosedive just minutes after her arrival.

Upon learning about her son Harry’s (Elijah Holloway) arrest, Nicola extended an invitation to her former love, Penny Branning (Kitty Castledine), for a conversation – however, this was far from a friendly welcome.

In an attempt to unsettle Penny, Nicola challenged her about Harry’s arrest, firmly believing that the police officer’s daughter, Penny, might have been the cause behind Harry being taken into custody for the suspected murder of his former partner, Shireen.

Following several quick remarks, such as a clever jab at Teddy Mitchell’s (portrayed by Roland Manookian) attire, and a quip about his ex-husband, Nicola hurried to the police station in order to clear Harry’s name for the night Shireen went missing. This act of hers provided an alibi for Harry.

The detective remained skeptical, but Nicola noted that her account aligned with Harry’s initial tale when he was first interrogated.

Initially, Nicola provided detailed accounts of the night in question, which were later found to be untrue. Furthermore, she undermined the credibility of ‘star witness’ Felicity by suggesting that Felicity held a grudge against Teddy.

In simpler terms, Jack Branning (played by Scott Maslen) questioned Nicola after she daringly implied that Penny might have played a role in assisting Nicola to release Harry.

In my perspective, as Nicola asserted her nurturing maternal stance, Harry found freedom, while Jack, in an unkind manner, insinuated that Penny acted against his interests.

Penny insisted he was wrong, but Jack now knew that Harry would be gunning for him.

In a surprising turn of events, it was revealed that Nicola had been deceiving everyone when she attempted to act as if she belonged somewhere. This revelation came about as Teddy exposed her true whereabouts, which contradicted youngest son Barney’s belief that she was overseas.

It was discovered that beauty specialist Nicola ended up serving time in prison due to an assault by causing bodily harm (ABH), following her usage of unauthorized lip fillers on a young woman.

Additionally, it came to light that Nicola had taken something from Teddy, leading Harry to evict her from the shared residence they once inhabited. This is why she’s no longer living there with them.

Teddy condemned Nicola’s efforts to appear a “changed woman”, and Barney told his mum to leave.

At the farewell moment, Nicola disclosed evidence showing Penny’s involvement in Harry’s arrest, and she emphasized the necessity of her presence within her family. However, will Nicola be able to secure their forgiveness?

In her first appearance, Doddington gave a compelling performance that was filled with excitement, leaving us eagerly anticipating what adventures await Nicola next!
