As a long-time EastEnders enthusiast with over three decades of watching under my belt, I must say that the latest twist in Sharon Watts‘ storyline has me intrigued. The dynamic between Sharon and Bernie Taylor is reminiscent of a classic cat-and-mouse game, with Sharon trying to keep tabs on Bernie while also keeping her own secrets hidden.

In the most recent episode of EastEnders, Sharon Watts (played by Letitia Dean) chose to closely monitor Bernie Taylor (portrayed by Clair Norris).
Eager to reveal the details behind Keanu Taylor’s (Danny Walters) murder, Bernie attempted to get Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) to talk by offering her a drink of vodka and encouraging conversation.
Initially, Linda suffered choking and needed immediate hospitalization. Later, she consented to enter a rehabilitation facility. However, before heading to the rehab, she was brought back home to The Queen Vic. There, Sharon learned from Johnny Carter (Charlie Suff) that Bernie had instigated Linda’s recent alcoholic relapse.
At the local café, I found myself squaring off with Bernie, who insisted that my overwhelming stress had caused me to overlook Linda’s struggle with alcoholism. Pushed to the edge by Bernie’s words, I couldn’t help but let her have it. In a heated moment, she demanded I back off, which left me concerned and seeking solace. So, I reached out to Phil Mitchell, my trusted confidant (Steve McFadden), to share the weight of the situation on my shoulders.
At the Boxing Gym, Sharon hinted to Phil that Bernie seemed troubled, and even contemplated asking Bernie to live with her. Phil advised Sharon against allowing Bernie into her home, but agreed it might be wise for Sharon to monitor the situation with Bernie closely.
During their conversation at the pub about her housing predicament, Bernie found herself joined by Felix Baker and Chelsea Fox. Suddenly, Sharon appeared and suggested covering the rent for one of Jack Branning’s apartments, mentioning that it was all for the sake of Keanu.
After Bernie expressed gratitude to Sharon, it became apparent that Sharon had caught on to her plan when she departed. Now, it seems inevitable that Bernie will soon reveal Sharon’s involvement in the downfall of Keanu.
EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7:30pm on BBC One and from 6am on BBC iPlayer.
