EastEnders Shocks Fans with Heartfelt Martin Fowler Tribute in iPlayer Release!

Heed this: The latest EastEnders episode (aired on 13th March 2025) has plot twists that might ruin your viewing experience if you haven’t watched it yet. You can catch it now on BBC iPlayer.

Martin Fowler‘s (James Bye) memory will continue to be honored in various forms within EastEnders, with one character expressing a touching homage following his unexpected passing.

Walford is deeply saddened by Martin’s passing, and as Sonia Fowler (played by Natalie Cassidy) welcomed a baby girl named Julia on the same day, she has been finding it tough to balance her new parental duties with her grief over Bex’s (Jasmine Armfield) father.

Meanwhile, it was revealed that Julia’s father, Reiss Colwell (played by Jonny Freeman), was the murderer who perished in The Queen Vic’s wreckage. Consequently, Sonia decided to seek closure and attended the funeral arranged for him, despite his status as a pauper.

After the service, Sonia declined to join for a celebratory beverage, gently reminding her sister Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer) that there wasn’t much reason to celebrate since Martin was absent.

Bianca was determined to lift Son’s spirits, holding a belated baby shower for her in Harry’s Barn.

With a sense of reluctance, Sonia was coaxed out of her home. However, she found herself appreciative towards B’s initiatives and the hospitality extended by the Knights, who graciously became temporary visitors in her household.

Later, it was overheard that Nicola Mitchell (Laura Doddington) was chatting with Priya Nandra-Hart (Sophie Khan Levy), implying they believed Sonia likely knew about Reiss’s act of murdering his wife Debbie (Jenny Meier).

Bianca felt enraged, yet it was Sonia who stood up for herself, exposing Reiss as a deceiver by revealing he had misled everyone. She spoke fervently about how Reiss played a part in Martin’s demise and expressed her deep regret that she could not undo the past to bring him back.

In response to B’s assurance that Martin wouldn’t blame her and his approval of using the Fowler name for her baby, Sonia indeed named her newborn Julia Fowler.

She will be raised with the same love and backing that Martin would have given, whether we share blood or not.

Once again addressing Nicola and those present, Sonia firmly stressed that no insults could inflict as much pain as the loss of Martin. This statement seemed to encourage Nicola to take steps to rectify the situation.

Instead of accepting the offer of complimentary beverages, Sonia and Bianca opted to go home to visit their cousin Lauren Branning (played by Jacqueline Jossa) and her daughter Julia.

A drunk Bianca overdid it, though, and ended up vomiting into Reiss’s tuba!

However, the tension of the day was alleviated when Sonia erupted in laughter, perhaps indicating a fresh start for long-enduring Sonia.

Certainly, while she pays her heartfelt tribute to Martin, Sonia will undoubtedly feel sorrow as Bex prepares to return home for the forthcoming funeral.

Audience members are likewise anticipating the return of Vicki Fowler, cousin to Bex (Alice Haig). It is expected that she will offer condolences for her late uncle Martin, and it appears she won’t be making this appearance alone.
