EastEnders star reminisces about working with soap icon Jake Wood ahead of 40th anniversary

During a retrospective look at his soap opera days, Maslen finds himself reminiscing about the best times he had – and among all the faces, one actor particularly stands out for him.

He stated: “From the moment we became acquainted, it felt as if Max and Jack were siblings. Despite their physical differences, many consider them brothers. The relationship dynamic between Jim’s favorite (Jack) and the one who always took the brunt (Max) was fascinating.

In crucial scenes, Jake truly stirs deep emotions within me. His performances are so impactful that they resonate deeply, like a punch to the heart. He’s an exceptional talent, and his contribution to EastEnders is significant and enduring – a part of its very soul.

Fervent supporters eagerly anticipate Max’s return to the Square. Given that Jack is currently central to the plots, it would be delightful if we could witness the brothers joining forces again, providing each other with much-needed support!

He proceeded to talk about standout plotlines, mentioning that he found the scenes featuring Samantha Womack (in her role as Ronnie) particularly enjoyable.

Maslen shared: “I found Jack and Ronnie’s dynamic on screen incredibly enjoyable. It was a delight to collaborate with Sam (Ronnie), my longtime friend, as we weren’t certain about working together given our real-life sibling-like bond, but the on-screen connection between Jack and Ronnie was fantastic.

The pair were constantly vying for superiority, with Jack occasionally emerging victorious and Ronnie doing so at other times, making things even in the end. This back-and-forth was engaging due to its intense and intricate nature!
