As a long-time fan of EastEnders, I must say that the upcoming week promises to be nothing short of dramatic and emotional. The rekindling of the relationship between Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) and Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) has been a long time coming, and it’s finally happening! After 22 years of on-again, off-again romance, these two soulmates are giving their love another shot.
Next week on EastEnders, Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) will be taken aback by an unexpected kiss from his former spouse and heart’s desire, Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace).
Ever since I stepped back into Walford last year, I’ve been longing for a particular moment – and now it’s finally here. It’s an intense situation, though, as my partner and I find ourselves grappling with our son Tommy, played brilliantly by Sonny Kendall, who, at the moment, is under the care of foster father Zack Hudson (James Farrar).
Additionally, he elaborates on the factors that cause the romantic development between Kat and Alfie, as well as delving into the enduring affection the viewers have for this duo, who began their relationship way back in 2003.
Richie also promises an exciting time to come for the beloved characters.
So, ahead of a game-changing week, read on below for the full interview.
How is Alfie managing amidst the challenging circumstances surrounding Tommy and Kat’s distress over the recent events?
Alfie is handling the situation remarkably well compared to Kat, and he’s providing her with much-needed support. There’s no hidden agenda from Alfie; his only intention is to aid Kat in getting through this tough time. As parents, they are resilient, whether their relationship as a couple remains or not. Alfie harbors a sense of guilt for not being present during Tommy’s upbringing, and when Kat brings it up, it leaves him with a heavy heart.
Now, Alfie has returned permanently, and he’s assured Kat of his trustworthiness. He’s promised to stand by her. I believe Kat finds solace in the knowledge that she has someone dependable by her side.
Why is Alfie so keen to call a truce between Kat, Jean and Stacey?
For over four decades, EastEnders has been a series emphasizing the importance of family ties. In times of hardship, it’s your loved ones who stand by you unwaveringly. Currently, Kat has distanced herself from the Slaters, and Alfie is trying to persuade her that, during these challenging moments, relying on family support is crucial. Although Alfie believes he’s correct, Kat can be quite determined in her independence.
“Alfie is scheming a get-together at the pub with Stacey and Jean. No matter what’s happening in his life, Alfie enjoys helping others, especially when it comes to supporting Kat.
How does Kat react when she realises Alfie has tricked her into meeting Stacey and Jean?
Kat considers leaving upon realizing she’s been tricked, but Alfie firmly disagrees. He explains, ‘I just want to assist you in navigating this situation with those who care for you and comprehend.’
Remain right where you’re at, let’s chat while sharing a glass of wine, and I’ll always be here to support you as you navigate your way through. Regardless of the choice you make, I will stand by your side. However, I urge you to give it some thought before making a decision.
How does Alfie react to Freddie’s remark that there is exceptional chemistry between him and Kat?
Alfie seems to be thinking something like, “What a pity he doesn’t know the whole story!” Over the past 22 years, Freddie has only glimpsed a part of the history, while he himself is merely picking up on the overall atmosphere.
In reality, Alfie would go to great lengths for Kat, and Kat becomes her ideal self in Alfie’s presence. However, they’re currently resisting this connection, focusing instead on raising their sons and maintaining a shared household.
The next day, Kat and Alfie meet with Tommy and the social worker. How does that go?
Kat’s struggling and feels unsure of her next steps. However, Alfie recognizes this as a long-term situation and understands it’s necessary for Tommy. In an inspiring speech, Alfie assures Tommy that no matter what he’s facing or feeling, they will always be there to support him, and that Kat adores him deeply more than anything else in the world.
“Alfie doesn’t seem to realize this, but Kat is sitting there, completely captivated by his every word. This sentiment strikes a chord with Tommy and the social worker, while Alfie remains true to himself – straightforward, unpretentious, and expressing love honestly. I believe that in this moment, Kat recalls why she fell for Alfie 22 years ago.
They arrive back at the flat, and Kat kisses Alfie. Does that come out of the blue for him?
As a devoted cinemagoer, I was utterly taken aback! Upon their return, it dawned on me that something seemed amiss with Kat; her gaze held a certain softness I hadn’t seen before. However, I remained puzzled about the situation since Kat had been consistently emphasizing for weeks that we were just friends and harbored no affection towards me.
Alfie had accepted that they’d be co-parenting, but their dynamic was about to change when Kat unexpectedly kissed him, a gesture reminiscent of their past. This kiss completely overturned Alfie’s current state of mind.
Is it plausible that Kat and Alfie might be able to find success again if they choose to rekindle their relationship, given where they are in their lives now?
I find myself marveling at where they stand now, having experienced so much and ventured on separate paths. It’s heartwarming to see Kat and Alfie reconnecting, gradually finding their way back to one another. If fate brings them closer again, they would undoubtedly form an unstoppable duo, their unique identities and shared past making them a powerhouse couple.
Are the viewers keen to see Kat and Alfie reunited?
Many folks often wonder if the pair, Kat and Alfie, will reunite. A significant number of individuals find themselves in their forties today, having been young adults when these two initially became a couple during their late teens.
Grew up with Kat and Alfie as the beloved couple, they’re now in their forties. It seems they may have found their own versions of Kat and Alfie, which has them thrilled about a potential repeat of that wonderful love story. I can only say, ‘Keep an eye out, because there will be some spectacular moments ahead!’
EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7:30pm on BBC One and from 6am on BBC iPlayer.
