EastEnders stars reveal who they want to get together in interactive live episode

As a cinephile with over three decades of watching and analyzing soap operas under my belt, I must say that I am thoroughly intrigued by the upcoming special episode of EastEnders. The opportunity for fans to choose their preferred outcome in a love story is an unprecedented move, and one that could potentially shake up the Walford landscape.

This week, it was confirmed that the special episode allows fans to decide the ending of a love story. In an exclusive interview at this year’s National Television Awards (NTAs), actors Jamie Borthwick, Tony Clay, and Shane Richie shared their preferences for how they hope the storyline unfolds.

When asked who he hoped would interact in the upcoming episode, actor Clay playfully suggested: “Perhaps it could be Callum and Jay!

Borthwick stated that he’s unsure about what lies ahead for Jay in the upcoming weeks and months, yet emphasized that the entire cast is excitedly prepared for their 40th milestone. He further suggested that whatever challenge or project it might be, it seems like it will require a united front from the group moving forward.

As a cinephile, let me share my two cents on the dreamy duos I’d love to see together. If given the chance, I’d pair Alfie with Kat, but there’s also this irresistible longing for Phil and Sharon!

When Kat and Alfie were proposed as a potential couple for the anniversary episode, both actors expressed their enthusiasm about portraying the ex-lovers reuniting on screen.

Clay stated: “Let’s reinforce it with a reliable pairing that folks will recognize. I believe maintaining this is crucial to keep things moving.

This year, Borthwick is participating in the Strictly Come Dancing series, and his debut performance is scheduled for the opening show on September 14th.

Despite rumors suggesting otherwise, the actor clarified that he’s not planning to pause his role on EastEnders since both shows are filmed nearby each other.

Originally stated: “I’m not going on a hiatus. I’m still present, thus managing both shows. Fortunately, EastEnders is merely across the street, so I don’t need to travel far.

Regarding dividing his time between both shows, Borthwick commented: “I’m quite accustomed to this routine, actually. I’ve been at it for a while now, so there’s not much that intimidates me.

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7:30pm on BBC One and from 6am on BBC iPlayer.
