EastEnders to release every Christmas episode on BBC iPlayer in festive treat for fans

As a lifelong EastEnders enthusiast who has witnessed the trials and tribulations of the residents of Walford through thick and thin, I can hardly contain my excitement at the prospect of BBC iPlayer adding every festive edition of EastEnders to their streaming service from December 1st. The soap’s Christmas specials have always been a highlight of my holiday season, and the opportunity to revisit these iconic moments is nothing short of a gift in itself.

Every festive edition of EastEnders is being added to BBC iPlayer.

Starting on December 1st, 2024, at 6 AM, all the thrilling Christmas episodes of the BBC One soap opera will become available for streaming on the BBC service.

Some classic episodes from the popular soap are about to become viewable again shortly.

In that Christmas season, one of the most-watched episodes aired, featuring Den Watts (Leslie Grantham) serving divorce papers to his wife Angie Watts (Anita Dobson). This was the same holiday where Pauline Fowler (Wendy Richards) found out Den was the father of her grandchild, Michelle Fowler’s (Sue Tully), who was a teenager at the time. The episode has been popular on iPlayer because of its enduring cultural significance.

Among the memorable episodes are:

Indeed, last year’s installment was equally spectacular, culminating in the long-awaited resolution of The Six’s enigma, where Keanu Taylor (played by Danny Walters) met a tragic end at Linda Carter’s (Kellie Bright) hands. This selfless act ultimately saved Sharon Watts’ life (Letitia Dean).

This Christmas special is filled with a steamy soap opera plotline. In it, the truth about Cindy Beale’s (Michelle Collins) deceit and affairs – including her past relationship with Junior Knight (Micah Balfour), her former stepson, and her lingering feelings for his father, George Knight (Colin Salmon), who is now remarried – will be uncovered by the Beale-Knight family.

2024 seasons will also feature a special surprise for Denise Fox (Diane Parish) and the reappearance of characters from her past as ghostly figures.

Let’s hope it’s a classic year to remember!
