EastEnders Vicki Recast: Old Star’s Secret Message

The newly arrived character Alice Haig from EastEnders disclosed that Scarlett Alice Johnson, the original Vicki Fowler actress, offered some words to her after the role was recast.

Susan Tully’s character, Michelle Fowler’s daughter and Dirty Den Watts’ child, has made a comeback on BBC One soap opera after an absence of twenty years. Now, Haig is taking over the role.

At the British Soap Awards, Haig shared that prior to making her show debut, she received a message from Johnson, who had portrayed Vicki from 2003 to 2004, offering words of encouragement.

Haig mentioned that Scarlett had emailed him with a heartwarming message filled with goodwill, which he found delightful. The email included her expressing excitement about portraying Vicki Fowler, a sentiment that Haig wholeheartedly shared.

Previously, Johnson had affirmed she was offered a chance to play the role again, but she opted to decline it instead.

The representative stated: “Scarlett was invited to come back, which she found pleasing, but at this moment, it doesn’t align with her schedule to resume the role.

In March, Fowler went back to the Square to attend the funeral of her late uncle Martin, who had unfortunately died due to an explosion at The Vic.

The announcement for the recast was made way back in February. In a statement then, Haig expressed his excitement, stating that he had always been a fan of the show and the fact that he was born in February 1985, just like EastEnders, added to his enthusiasm!
