Actor Ed Gale, most recognized for his parts in Howard the Duck and Chucky, passed away at the age of 61.
It was shared on Facebook by Kayse, his niece, that Gale had passed away unexpectedly. She expressed her feelings by saying, “With a heavy heart and an unusual sense of lightness, we are sad to announce the sudden demise of our beloved uncle.
The post stated that Ed Gale, having played his last performance, is now performing in another realm. At age 20, he embarked on a journey to California with just $41 and a vision, and since then, he never turned around.
He became a familiar face on the big screen, starring in niche movies such as Howard the Duck and Chopper Chicks in Zombie Town. This gained him a considerable amount of respect wherever he went at conventions, which he was more than happy to share with anyone who would listen repeatedly.
Throughout his professional journey, he featured in more than 130 films, television programs, and advertisements. This extensive portfolio of work ensures a lasting impression marked by debatable lighting techniques and unforgettable witty remarks.
Ed took great pleasure in being known as the ‘fun uncle’. He expressed his affection through introducing his nieces to the captivating world of the entertainment industry and the enchantment of Hollywood. Ed had a particular fondness for 7-Eleven hotdogs, often heaped with generous helpings of ketchup. He cherished reflecting on his past as a DJ at the Plainwell roller rink, recalling those vibrant days.
There was no valid cause behind his dislike for Bill Maher. He found joy in crafting intriguing tales slowly, and playing dishonestly at Cribbage. His laughter was infectious, and he will be dearly missed. May you rest peacefully, grumpy old soul.
Born with dwarfism, Gale made his screen debut by donning the suit to play the lead character in Howard the Duck. After that, he featured in films like Spaceballs, Bill & Ted’s Journey Beyond Reality, 1994’s adaptation of The Jungle Book, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, and The Polar Express.
Apart from his roles in shows like Land of the Lost and My Name Is Earl, he is particularly recognized for his performance inside the suit as the character Chucky. In the films Child’s Play, Child’s Play 2, and Bride of Chucky, he portrayed the possessed doll.
