Ed Sheeran is gearing up for his latest release, which promises to be his biggest yet.
The album titled “Play” marks a fresh chapter for this celebrity, as he’s previously employed mathematical symbols in naming all his earlier works.
Speaking to HitsRadio, Sheeran revealed it was a plan he had in place since he was 18 years old.
He shared with Fleur East and James Barr that when he was eighteen years old, he had a goal of releasing ten full-length records. At that point, he had already completed five extended plays (EPs), so he wanted to create an additional ten albums. Here’s the sequence he thought of: Multiply, Plus, Divide, Equals, Subtract, followed by Play, Pause, Rewind, Fast Forward, and Stop.
Or more informally: He told Fleur East and James Barr that at 18, his ambition was to release ten albums, starting with Multiply, Plus, Divide, Equals, Subtract, and then Play, Pause, Rewind, Fast Forward, Stop.
I simply found it delightful that… You’re always so good at anticipating, whether it’s figuring out the next step, the color, or the symbol.
He added that a special edition of the latest album will likely be called Replay.
With this in mind, here’s everything you need to know about Play.
