Eddie Redmayne and Lashana Lynch in riveting trailer for Day of the Jackal

As a seasoned cinema enthusiast with over four decades of film-watching under my belt, I must say that the second trailer for The Day of the Jackal has truly piqued my interest. Having seen countless adaptations and reinventions of classic novels throughout the years, I can confidently say that this modern take on Frederick Forsyth’s work seems to be shaping up quite nicely.

As an eager fan, I’m thrilled to share that the second sneak peek for the highly anticipated Sky Atlantic/NOW drama “The Day of the Jackal” has been released! This tantalizing trailer offers a deeper insight into Eddie Redmayne’s enigmatic high-profile assassin and Lashana Lynch‘s resilient MI6 agent, who is hot on his trail.

This series is actually the second screen version based on Frederick Forsyth’s novel with the same title. You might recall the 1973 movie featuring Edward Fox. However, this new adaptation has been updated and reimagined in a manner reminiscent of the Bourne films.

The trailer abundantly shows signs of the cat-and-mouse game between Redmayne’s character, known as the Jackal, and Bianca (played by Lynch). This game involves them descending from buildings, wearing disguises, disobeying commands, and deceiving their dear ones.

In the quote, it seems that Bianca is cautioned with something akin to, “One man isn’t worth such great cost,” but from what we see in the video, it appears that she won’t change her mind.

The trailer also gives us a glimpse at the rest of the cast, which includes Money Heist star Úrsula Corberó, Game of Thrones actors Charles Dance and Richard Dormer and Chukwudi Iwuji (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3).

The series marks Redmayne’s return to television.

Regarding the script, the Academy Award winner expressed to Entertainment Weekly that “As I was reading, I discovered it to be incredibly exciting and captivating. At every point, it surprised me and left me somewhat confused, yet I couldn’t help but keep flipping through the pages.
