Eiza González is manifesting her dream role.
Eiza shared with Erin Lim Rhodes on The Rundown at TopMob News, “I’d be thrilled to do it! It would be a privilege.” She expressed her admiration, saying, “I adore the book. I’m fond of everything she creates. I’m a big fan.
She expressed enthusiasm about the possibility of playing Evelyn Hugo but also acknowledged her doubts, saying, “I’m not sure if I’ll ever land that role,” and further mentioned, “I’m unsure about the status of that project.
Eiza feels incredibly privileged just to be in contention, but it’s not only her who’s excited about the prospect of playing the fictional Hollywood star in our upcoming movie, Fountain of Youth. In fact, her co-star, the talented Natalie Portman, is also backing Eiza for the role.
One day, while on set, Natalie Portman said to me, ‘I honestly can’t imagine anyone but you playing Evelyn Hugo,’ she added. Hearing this from Natalie Portman made me feel quite flattered.
As Eiza envisioned herself in the role, given that the story encompasses various decades of the protagonist’s life and explores her numerous marriages, she felt it appropriate to reveal her choice for the character’s older counterpart – Evelyn.
Eiza expressed her difficulty in choosing between the characters, stating, “It’s truly challenging to make a decision. There are just so many exceptional actresses I’ve considered, such as Eva Longoria, Salma Hayek, and Sofía Vergara.” She emphasized once more, “There are indeed many outstanding actresses.
As a committed admirer, I’m determined to ensure that the project receives the same meticulous attention and faithful adaptation as Taylor’s novel “Daisy Jones & The Six” has been given, regardless of any unforeseen circumstances.
She remarked, “I believe they truly excelled in crafting ‘Daisy Jones and The Six.’ In my opinion, it’s simply perfect – a true masterpiece. However, it must have been carefully executed.
Currently, Eiza looks forward to fans catching her upcoming sci-fi thriller titled “Ash“. In her own words, “The film centers around a woman who finds herself on an alien planet named Ash, inside a space base. Upon waking up, she doesn’t recognize herself or the events that led to this situation. However, she notices blood splattered everywhere and realizes that everyone else has been brutally murdered, leaving her as the sole survivor.
Eiza stated that the movie is truly a harrowing psychological survival horror, and she found it tough yet deeply rewarding, as it helped her discover her identity as an actress.
As I eagerly anticipate news about Eiza’s potential casting in “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo”, here’s a peek at some outstanding television adaptations of books that have already graced our screens. I, for one, can’t wait to see more!

Since its premiere in 2019, “The Morning Show” has continued to dominate the streaming landscape. This is largely due to exceptional acting by its principal cast members, such as Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, and Billy Crudup. These talented individuals have all received Emmy nominations throughout the series’ run on Apple TV+. The show is based on Brian Stelter’s 2013 non-fiction book “Top of the Morning: Inside the Cutthroat World of Morning TV.” In its depiction of the competitive world of morning television, it has garnered 27 nominations and even won Crudup an award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2020.
A modern take on Patricia Highsmith’s 1955 psychological thriller “The Talented Mr. Ripley” titled simply “Ripley,” features Andrew Scott as the cunning Tom Ripley, a con artist in 1960s New York. Hired by a wealthy shipping tycoon to convince his son Dickie (Johnny Flynn) to abandon his European adventures and return to America, Ripley’s exploits unfold in this Netflix miniseries, also starring Dakota Fanning. In 2019, Casey McQuiston’s top-selling novel “Red, White & Royal Blue” gained popularity and was subsequently adapted into a movie on Amazon Prime in 2023. This film told the heartwarming tale of romantic involvement between the fictional son of the U.S. president (Taylor Zakhar Perez) and the Prince of England (Nicholas Galitzine). Remarkably, this production received a nomination for Outstanding Television Movie at the 2024 Emmy Awards.
In Ryan Murphy’s anthology series, “Feud: Capote vs. The Swans,” which is set to air in 2024, the narrative revolves around how the renowned writer Truman Capote (portrayed by Tom Hollander) damaged his relationships with a circle of New York City high society women, often referred to as his “Swans.” This was due to his portrayal of them in a thinly disguised form in a 1975 article for Esquire magazine. The series is adapted from Laurence Leamer’s 2021 book “Capote’s Women: A True Story of Love, Betrayal, and a Swan Song for an Era.” Starring in this FX production are notable actresses such as Naomi Watts, Diane Lane, Chloë Sevigny, Calista Flockhart, Demi Moore, Molly Ringwald, and the late Treat Williams. As a lifestyle connoisseur, let me share my thoughts on the extraordinary impact of Netflix’s adaptation of Julia Quinn’s romance series, Bridgerton, towards the end of last year. The secret to its success lies in its rich diversity, captivating soundtrack, and enthralling love scenes that kept streaming service subscribers yearning for more. This period drama has truly captured people’s hearts, and it was no surprise when it earned an Outstanding Drama Series nomination at the 2021 Emmys – a testament to its critical acclaim.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but gush over this captivating drama that’s brimming with epic clashes and heart-wrenching love stories. This masterpiece is rooted in the beloved book series penned by George R.R Martin, a name synonymous with literary greatness. While the books have already made a name for themselves on bestseller lists, the TV adaptation has managed to captivate fans from every corner of the globe, even those who might not consider themselves aficionados of the original work.
Over the span of eight riveting seasons, this HBO gem amassed an impressive 58 Emmy Awards, making it the most award-winning drama in history. Despite the contentious ending that sparked debate among viewers, as it strayed from George R.R Martin’s initial plotline to carve its own unique conclusion, this show will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the most revered television series ever made.
HBO’s television series based on Liane Moriarty’s hit novel attracted top-tier actors for small-screen performances. The roles of the five women involved in a murder mystery were filled by stars like Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, Zoe Kravitz, and Laura Dern. As engrossing as the book itself, the first season garnered eight Primetime Emmy Awards and even persuaded Meryl Streep to join for a crucial role in the subsequent season, which Moriarty contributed to, though no more source material was available. While not universally adored like the first, the second season still managed to secure nominations for Meryl Streep and Laura Dern in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
3 Body Problem, a Netflix series set in both the U.K. and China, received six Emmy nominations for 2024, including one for Outstanding Drama Series. This sci-fi series revolves around a team of scientists tackling an alien enigma and a potential planetary danger. This was followed by The Dark Forest in 2008 and Death’s End in 2010.
In 2022, British spy thriller “Slow Horses” made its debut on Apple TV+, but it was the third season that captured the attention of Emmy voters in 2024, earning nine nominations including Outstanding Drama Series, as well as acting nods for stars Gary Oldman and Jack Lowden. This series is adapted from Mick Herron’s “Slough House” spy novel series, with the first book, “Slow Horses,” published in 2010. The show “Palm Royale” received three Emmy nominations for 2024 in the categories of Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series (Kristen Wiig), and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series (Carol Burnett). Despite being adapted from the 2018 book “Mr. & Mrs. American Pie” by Juliet McDaniel, the Apple TV+ series takes a dramatically different path from its original material. The story is set in the late ’60s and revolves around Maxine Simmons, played by Wiig, who was once a beauty pageant queen. In her bid to join Florida’s Palm Beach high society, she encounters various challenges. However, in the novel, Maxine is banished from Palm Springs to Scottsdale, Ariz., following an intoxicated outburst at Thanksgiving after learning that her husband plans to leave her for his secretary.
Lily Gladstone received a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie at the 2024 Emmys for her role in Hulu’s 2024 miniseries “Under The Bridge.” This series is adapted from Rebecca Godfrey’s 2005 true crime book of the same name. The story follows the tragic events surrounding the murder of 14-year-old Reena Virk by a group of her peers, which occurred in Saanich, British Columbia, Canada in 1997.
As a dedicated fan, I’m excitedly looking forward to the upcoming miniseries in 2024 titled “The Sympathizer.” This historical black comedy is an adaptation from Viet Thanh Nguyen’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name published in 2015. The HBO series is set towards the end of the Vietnam War, focusing on a Vietnamese spy who escapes to a refugee camp in the U.S., where his allegiances are put to the test as he secretly continues to report to the Viet Cong. The show garnered the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie at the 2024 Emmys, with Robert Downey Jr. delivering exceptional performances by playing five distinct roles within the series.
Debuting on Hulu in 2017, this adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s dystopian novel from 1985, titled “The Handmaid’s Tale,” is set in the totalitarian state of Gilead after a Second American Civil War. Since then, the series has moved beyond its original narrative as it chronicles the story of June Osborne (Elisabeth Moss), the main character, a handmaid under oppression, and her relentless pursuit of freedom. It has garnered several Emmys, with Outstanding Drama Series being one of its accolades in its first season.
The mini-series we’re discussing was initially based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel “Roots: The Saga of an American Family,” written by Alex Haley in 1976. A year later, the series made its debut on ABC, starring LeVar Burton, and it became a significant cultural touchstone, winning nine Emmys and a Peabody Award. Its ratings were exceptionally high, with the finale still holding the record as the second-most-watched series finale in U.S. television history. In 2016, a new adaptation of the same name was released, featuring Malachi Kirby and Anika Noni Rose.
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but share my enthusiasm for this captivating immortal drama. Characters like a waitress with an uncanny ability to read minds and vampires sporting southern accents are just a few examples of what makes this series so intriguing. This mesmerizing show, starring the now-married duo Anna Pacquin and Stephen Moyer, is adapted from Charlaine Harris’s “The Southern Vampire Mysteries” novels and is set in a quaint Louisiana town. Spanning over seven seasons, it concluded in 2014, but its impact remains everlasting – bestowing upon us the visual treat of chiseled Alexander Skarsgård and Joe Manganiello, stripped down to their essentials.
In a contemporary adaptation of the renowned detective series written by British knight Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, this U.K. production featuring actors Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman was not just popular in its native land but also gained a global following, with fans as far away as the U.S. It even garnered the prestigious award for Best Television Film at the 2016 Emmys.
This exhilarating series, centered around historical fiction novels by author Diana Gabaldon, explores themes of time travel, rebellion, and complex romantic entanglements. The series stars Caitriona Balfe as a nurse who journeys to another era and develops feelings for a free-spirited Scottish highlander, Sam Heughan, despite being wed in her own timeline.
According to the 2014 novel “You Should Have Known” by Jean Hanff Korelitz, the series “The Undoing” brings Nicole Kidman back as a central character in a captivating murder mystery. In this story, Grace Fraser, portrayed by Kidman, experiences a dramatic shift in her life when her husband Jonathan (Hugh Grant) becomes a prime suspect in the killing of Elena Alves (Matilda De Angelis).
Despite some mixed feelings about the ending, there was general consensus that Nicole Kidman’s costumes in the show were top-notch.
The crime drama centered around Dexter Morgan, portrayed by Michael C. Hall, who is a blood splatter analyst during the day and a nighttime serial killer, was initially adapted from novels written by Jeff Lindsay. Over its eight-season run on Showtime, it built a dedicated fanbase and received 23 Emmy nominations. However, the series finale was not easy to wrap up satisfactorily.
In 2021, the artistic team gave another attempt at concluding Dexter’s tale in a special, limited series called “Dexter: New Blood“.
The critically acclaimed Netflix series, “Orange Is the New Black,” draws inspiration from the memoir of the same name by author Piper Kerman. It quickly became a favorite among audiences due to its blend of biting wit and emotionally powerful narratives, as well as its compelling female characters such as Suzanne (Uzo Aduba), Sophia (Laverne Cox), Pennsatucky (Taryn Manning) and the beloved Poussey Washington (Samira Wiley). After seven seasons, fans said goodbye to Litchfield Penitentiary in 2019.
Prior to Kyle Chandler gracing our TV screens and winning hearts of viewers, the sports drama was first brought to life as a film starring Billy Bob Thornton. However, in 2006, H.G. Bissinger’s non-fiction book “Friday Night Lights: A Town, a Team, and a Dream” made its debut on television, converting non-football enthusiasts into devotees. The series featured a talented cast including Kyle Chandler, Connie Britton, Minka Kelly, Scott Porter, Michael B. Jordan, and Taylor Kitsch as Tim Riggins. Let’s all shout it together now: “Clear Eyes, Full Hearts…
In 2021, Liane Moriarty’s novel Nine Perfect Strangers from 2018 was brought to life on Hulu through a collaboration between Nicole Kidman and David E. Kelley. This TV series, penned by author Cecily von Ziegesar who hails from New York City’s Upper East Side, is famously known for depicting the clandestine world of young, affluent New Yorkers. Regardless if you identified more with Blair (portrayed by Leighton Meester) or Serena (played by Blake Lively), it’s hard to deny that the stylish cast sparked a touch of envy during its six-year run on The CW.
The popular book series penned by author Sara Shepard was a beloved binge-worthy TV show for viewers across the globe, starring Lucy Hale, Shay Mitchell, Ashley Benson, and Troian Bellisario. This fashionable group consistently left fans hanging on the edge of their seats. Over seven seasons on Freeform, PLL attempted to provide answers to all the queries its vast fanbase had as the end approached. Whether viewers were content with these explanations, that’s a different tale altogether.
The SyFy series “The Magicians,” based on Lev Grossman’s bestselling books, offers a peek into the enchanting universe of Brakebills University students, who juggle the usual college trials (like complex relationships and substance abuse) while mastering their magical abilities – making their lives all the more intricate. Throughout five seasons, the missions escalated, often requiring the heroes to preserve the multiverse or magic itself. (Quite casual stuff, isn’t it?) However, one aspect remained consistent: Each season delivered a remarkable musical episode.
The attractive ensemble, featuring stars like Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Kat Graham, and Ian Somerhalder, undeniably played a significant role in making this supernatural TV show on The CW a massive success. Fans of L.J. Smith’s book series were thrilled to witness their beloved characters brought to the screen in this captivating drama that aired its final episode in 2017, concluding after eight seasons.
