Yet, it’s crucial to keep in mind that registrations were made through the Bandai Namco website, not Steam. The chosen participants will receive an email containing all necessary details to the email address used during sign-up. Be cautious not to click “accept” out of excitement, thinking it’s a message from Steam.
Hey there fellow gamers! Just wanted to share some insight I picked up from Nikoheart’s post about that suspicious message floating around. Seems like there’s another red flag in addition to what they mentioned. If you look closely, the address beneath the Elden Ring Nightreign image is definitely not an official URL – it says Steampowered APP2627881. So yeah, don’t even think about clicking that invite or any links attached to it. Stay safe and smart out there!
Unfortunately, victims of this scam may find their Steam accounts compromised. The perpetrator can then exploit the hijacked account by sending out more deceitful Elden Ring Nightreign playtest invites to the user’s friend list. This increases the likelihood of the hack spreading rapidly if users aren’t cautious. Besides the misuse of the stolen account, there is a possibility that sensitive financial data stored on Steam could be accessed. Users who have a payment method saved on Steam might find unauthorized purchases being made from their accounts.
