Elden Ring Nightreign Playtest Gets a Date as Signups Open

The highly anticipated Elden Ring Nightreign is about to undergo its first playtest since its announcement in December. This will mark the initial opportunity for you and your friends to engage with this game similar to Elden Ring, but if you wish to join forces, you’ll need to register promptly as registration for Elden Ring Nightreign opens today. Additionally, a specific date has been confirmed, and we now know that Elden Ring Nightreign will be playable starting on February 14th.

As a fervent admirer, let me share some exciting news about an upcoming event! Valentine’s Day will kick off our playtest, but the fun doesn’t stop there – it’ll extend all the way until February 16th! That’s what FromSoftware and Bandai Namco announced this week. However, keep in mind that the live sessions are only available during specific three-hour windows each day, so you’ll need to strategize your gaming schedule accordingly. For a complete rundown of the event schedule, check out the handy graphic they shared this week!

To join the test, simply visit the Elden Ring Nightreign site to register. Bandai Namco only requires some basic contact information along with your preferred platform for playing. Once submitted, whether you’re selected to participate is based on random selection from the pool of applicants.

When you register for this playtest, please remember that it’s exclusive to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S users. If you’re using a PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or PC, I’m afraid you won’t be able to participate in this round. However, since the initial playtest for Elden Ring was limited in this way, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that we’re doing it this way here. As of now, it’s uncertain if there will be another test for the PC platform or if we’ll have another test at all. So, for now, consider this the only playtest you can expect to join.

When playing Elden Ring Nightreign with friends, it’s important to have exactly three players in total. This is because Elden Ring Nightreign can only be played by one player or by teams of three, and if you want to enjoy the game without other players interfering, you’ll need a group of three. Communication through voice chat with your teammates is also recommended since the messaging system that has been common in FromSoftware games like Dark Souls will not be available in Elden Ring Nightreign.

In Elden Ring Nightreign, we understand that the world isn’t an identical duplicate of Elden Ring, but rather a parallel universe. This allows for the appearance of enemies like the Nameless King from Dark Souls 3 within the game. However, it remains to be seen which other bosses from the SoulsBorne series might make an appearance in Elden Ring Nightreign. Given FromSoftware’s history, it seems unlikely that they would limit appearances to just the Nameless King.
