Summary
- Tarnished Edition of Elden Ring brings fresh gear options for Torrent, the beloved mount.
- Torrent finally receives customization options, including different looks and armor upgrades.
- It’s a potential double-dip incentive for players who already own Elden Ring.
The Elden Ring Tarnished Edition, available on Nintendo Switch and other systems, is introducing fresh content to the game that fans have longed for since its release. A variety of personalization choices are being added to the dearly cherished Elden Ring character, which players adore the most.
In its original form, Elden Ring offers an immense array of weapons, magic, and gear. Consequently, certain character builds may be more effective than others, but for the hardcore player, virtually anything can work. The Shadow of the Erdtree DLC not only added more content but also introduced numerous new bosses and adversaries to challenge players.
During the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct presentation, it was disclosed that Elden Ring will be available on the platform in 2025, included within the Tarnished Edition. It’s not yet clear if this specific edition will also launch on other platforms, as FromSoftware has not provided a confirmation. Interestingly, the official Elden Ring website indicates that one character will receive new equipment in the Tarnished Edition.
Torrent Is Finally Getting Customization Options In Elden Ring’s Tarnished Edition

In the Tarnished Edition of Elden Ring, fan-favorite steed Torrent is undergoing a transformation. It’s been revealed that he will sport multiple new appearances, one of which seems to bear the Luirnia standard, suggesting several custom livery options may be available for Torrent to adorn.
It’s quite unexpected that Torrent, a character in Elden Ring, hasn’t received any customization options until now, given how simple and rewarding this feature could be for players. With numerous items of gear available for the protagonist in Elden Ring, it seems unusual that Torrent didn’t receive even a basic headpiece like a pot. Adding armor to make it more resilient or abilities that allow it to move in various directions (similar to the Chocobo breeding in Final Fantasy) seemed like an opportunity missed.
It’s uncertain if fresh hairstyles for Torrent will persuade players who already experienced Elden Ring on different platforms to buy it again for Nintendo. However, for dedicated Nintendo enthusiasts who haven’t journeyed through the Lands Between yet, this update might serve as another compelling reason to embark on another death-defying adventure in a FromSoftware game.
