Elder Scrolls 6 Release Date Clue Sparks Hope for Sooner Launch Than Expected

Enthusiasts of Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls series believe they’ve uncovered a hint about when The Elder Scrolls VI might be coming out, and it turns out to be earlier than expected. In the past few days, Bethesda unexpectedly disclosed some information regarding the next installment in the Elder Scrolls series. This particular revelation pertained to an auction that Bethesda is hosting to support Make-A-Wish, with the winner getting a chance to design their own character (NPC) that will show up in The Elder Scrolls VI. While this auction doesn’t seem connected to the release date of The Elder Scrolls VI, one fan has spotted an unusual link between the two.

On the official subreddit for Elder Scrolls VI, user FartingSlowly noted that Bethesda once had a similar opportunity for Starfield when it was being developed, an auction which allowed one person to create an NPC in Starfield around two and a half years before its release. If the same event were to occur now with Elder Scrolls VI, it might hint at a September 2027 launch date, though this is not definitive and only offers a potential insight into Bethesda’s future plans.

In their own words, “This isn’t a reliable or substantial measure for release by any standards. Don’t place too much emphasis on it. However, it does represent something, and that something originates from Bethesda themselves.” Translated, they are saying that while the information is not significant enough to get excited about, it isn’t entirely baseless speculation as it comes directly from Bethesda. It’s a slight change in the usual speculative landscape.

Despite an intriguing theory about the release date of Elder Scrolls VI, there are some significant considerations. To be specific, other Reddit users highlighted that Starfield experienced a nearly year-long delay before its debut. Consequently, when Bethesda advertised Starfield previously, it was assumed to be less than two years away from launch. However, due to the delay, Starfield ended up being released in 2023 instead of the originally planned late 2022.

It’s quite possible that Bethesda Game Studios hasn’t decided on an exact release date for The Elder Scrolls VI yet, even though it’s their current focus. Given the project’s stage of development, it’s safe to say that the game is still a few years away from launch. If we’re fortunate, we might hear something about TES VI in 2025 to keep fans excited. Additionally, it appears that a remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion could be coming out soon.
