As a cinema devotee with a heart as vast as the cosmos and a history of shedding tears at the most unexpected moments, I can hardly contain my excitement for Pixar’s summer 2025 offering, “Elio“. The trailer alone has me yearning to strap on a rocket pack and journey into the Communiverse myself.

Following the massive box office success of Inside Out 2, setting a new record for the year’s highest-grossing film, we catch a glimpse of Pixar’s upcoming summer release in 2025 starring Elio, as hinted by its trailer.

Instead of constantly seeking something, imagine if that very thing came looking for you instead. That’s exactly what happens to Elio, a character from Pixar Animation Studios’ film “Onward,” who is more interested in aliens than anything else. When he gets transported to the Communiverse, an enchanting place filled with intelligent beings from various galaxies, he initially believes he’s been mistaken for Earth’s leader. Consequently, Elio must build unforeseen relationships, handle a crisis of cosmic scale, and ensure that his chance to realize his ultimate dream doesn’t slip away.

In the movie, Yonas Kibreab voices Elio, Zoe Saldaña portrays Aunt Olga, Remy Edgerly takes on Glordon, Brad Garrett lends his voice to Lord Grigon, Jameela Jamil is Ambassador Questa, and Shirley Henderson plays OOOOO. The film is helmed by directors Madeline Sharafian (“Burrow” Sparkshort), Domee Shi (“Bao” short, “Turning Red”), and Adrian Molina (co-screenwriter/co-director of “Coco”). Mary Alice Drumm, associate producer of “Coco”, serves as the producer.

It appears that this movie might turn out to be a heart-wrenching one, as Pixar has demonstrated a knack for creating emotionally impactful films, often leaving their audience in tears.

Elio opens only in cinemas on 13th June 2025
