Elizabeth Olsen explains that sometimes her personal preferences for films don’t match up with the roles she takes on, especially when it comes to her projects within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In an interview on the NPR’s Wild Card With Rachel Martin podcast, Elizabeth Olsen admitted that she sometimes struggles to choose roles that align with her personal preferences in her acting career, which she feels she is still working to demonstrate to others.
In professional settings, particularly during work-related discussions, I believe there’s room for me to demonstrate my unique preferences in movies and literature. I feel the need to validate these tastes.
She added, “Given my extensive work in Marvel, I feel it’s essential for any other projects I take on to align with my personal preferences. Although I cherish being a part of this universe and am proud of what I’ve accomplished with the character, it’s not the kind of art that I typically enjoy consuming. This has always been clear.

Lately, Olsen has been featured in indie movies such as “His Three Daughters” and “The Assessment,” following her portrayal of her MCU character in the 2022 film “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Initially, Olsen expressed that he found the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) stories to be grand, epic in nature, akin to Greek tales, which elegantly mirrored political and cultural aspects.
Thus, I couldn’t help but feel a strong sense of pride as I plunged into it. Over the past decade, it has evolved into a kind of trendy opinion, much like a hot take, where an actor expresses whether they would or wouldn’t participate in a Marvel movie.
Olsen’s character stands out significantly within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, appearing in multiple movies and a highly successful show “WandaVision.” This series not only entertained viewers but also provided deeper understanding of her persona, leaving many eagerly anticipating future developments.
Initially appearing as Scarlet Witch in a scene after the credits in Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), Elizabeth Olsen later took on roles in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), Captain America: Civil War (2016), and subsequently, the subsequent Avengers films.
In the forthcoming Marvel Zombies animated series, she will once again take on the character of Wanda or Scarlet Witch, but this time exclusively through voice-over work.
