Somewhere over the rainbow, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are thriving.
Previously, the host of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” offered a peek into their daily life in the U.K., half a year after revealing that they would be moving there permanently.
Ellen posted an Instagram picture on April 21st featuring Portia admiring a stunning rainbow. In the description, she wrote, “Here are three sources of joy for me: My Spouse, A Rainbow, and my spouse capturing a photo of a Rainbow.
In light of the couple marking their 20th anniversary this year, a 67-year-old woman has recently shared an update about her life. Ellen has acknowledged this milestone on multiple occasions over the past few months.
Ellen posted on Instagram on the 21st of March, expressing ‘We’ve been together for twenty years.’ She’s happy to be by your side all the time and everywhere.
In December, they marked their official anniversary as a couple, having begun dating all the way back in 2004.
Oh my goodness, little did I know our journey together would turn into such an enchanting, breathtaking odyssey! You’re always there for me, providing comfort and reminding me to find the bright side in every situation. Whenever I stumble or lose my way, you’re there to steady me and lift me back up.
She went on saying, ‘You’re a lovely spirit I’m truly thankful to journey through this zany existence beside.’
Beyond her relationship with Portia, Ellen – who chose to embrace her gray hair during her quieter period away from the limelight – has also shared insights about their life together in the U.K., mentioning that they’ve welcomed some new members into their family overseas as well.
Ellen shared earlier this month that she acquired more feathery friends, or in simpler terms, she got more chickens. Though they’re still a bit timid, they seem to be adapting well to their new abode. Interestingly, we have our own flock back home, and they are being well taken care of by their sitter. The existing hens are thrilled about their chicken kin now living with us. Ellen promised to keep everyone posted on how things progress with the new additions.

1. After 19 seasons and allegations of a toxic work environment, “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” hosted by Ellen DeGeneres came to an end in 2022. Following this, there was an internal investigation, multiple executive dismissals, and public criticism.
2. In September 2024, Ellen made her comeback with her standup special “For Your Approval” on Netflix. Prior to the release of this special, she announced that it would be her final performance.
3. During her Ellen’s Last Stand…Up tour, she informed the audience, as reported by SFGate, that this would be her last public appearance. She stated, “This is the last time you’re going to see me. After my Netflix special, I’m done.”
Ellen and her spouse, Portia de Rossi, are said to have relocated to England following Donald Trump’s victory in the 2024 presidential election. However, they have not made any official statements regarding the reasons behind their decision to move.
One of the reasons Tyra Banks, the host of America’s Next Top Model, relocated to Australia was because she wanted to oversee her ice cream brand, SMiZE and Dream, which had a significant production facility there. She fell in love with Australia each time she visited and recognized it as a promising market for her business, given that it ranks among the top three countries with the highest ice cream consumption alongside America and New Zealand. So, Tyra Banks, along with her son York (fathered by her ex Erik Asla) and boyfriend Louis Bélanger-Martin, moved to Australia, finding it a fulfillment of her dreams for herself and her family.
After quite some time since she resided on Wisteria Lane as a Desperate Housewives star, she has since relocated in reality. In an interview with Marie Claire in November 2024, Eva expressed her feelings about leaving Los Angeles, stating that even before the pandemic, the city was undergoing changes, and the atmosphere felt different. The pandemic then accelerated these changes, pushing her to move on from this phase of her life.
Over the past few years, Eva, along with her husband José Bastón and their son Santiago, have been dividing their time between Mexico and Spain due to work commitments. She acknowledged her privileged position to be able to escape and travel while expressing concern for those less fortunate who are stuck in a seemingly dystopian America.
Contrary to speculation, Eva clarified that her decision to move wasn’t motivated by President Trump’s re-election. Instead, she explained on The View: Behind the Table podcast in November 2024 that her work took her to Spain due to projects like Land of Women and Searching for Mexico, which required six months in Catalonia followed by four months in Mexico. After spending several years there, she no longer enjoys having her move politicized.
Since relocating, Eva has remained active with roles in shows such as Only Murders in the Building and Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Road Trip.
The actor, who was previously residing in Chicago, has decided to move to Madrid with his family. His wife is Spanish and they have spent around seven years together in the U.S. Richard, father of three sons, Alexander, James, and Homer, is excited about this change as it will be beneficial for their bilingual children. The whole family appears to be thriving in this new phase of their lives, as Richard expressed during an interview with Elle España in 2025, stating that they are happier than ever.
The singer (Christina) and her husband (Matt Pokora) have moved to Paris permanently, and their children attend school there. This change was made so that the kids could experience education in France. Christina shared this information during an episode of “The Jennifer Hudson Show” in November 2024. Prior to this move, they were commuting between the U.S. and France every six months. The family seems to be thriving in their new life in Paris, with the kids adapting well, learning French, and enjoying an active lifestyle during the day while Christina manages her work schedule around it.
Lindsay grew tired of false speculations about her departure from Los Angeles. To clarify the matter, she discussed her past experiences during her busy career and excessive partying in the 2000s.
“I sometimes felt that my work was overshadowed by paparazzi and related distractions when I was younger,” said Lindsay Lohan in an interview with Bustle in March 2024. “It’s annoying, and I wish it hadn’t happened. It seemed to take on a life of its own. That’s why I decided to retreat. I thought, ‘Unless there’s no story here, they won’t focus just on my work.'”
After moving abroad, first to London and then Dubai (also opening beach clubs in Greece), Lindsay also had another reason for seeking a life away from the limelight.
In her own words, she pondered, “What if I never experience love? What if that moment never comes?” She went on to explain how simply taking time for herself led to opportunities opening up and the right moments (or ‘yeses’) presenting themselves – the experiences she wanted to embrace.
Notably, Lindsay did find love with Bader Shammas, tying the knot in 2022 and welcoming son Luai in 2023. Despite residing in Dubai, she hasn’t completely abandoned the Hollywood scene, appearing in films such as Our Little Secret, Irish Wish, and Freakier Friday.
The choice for Josh to depart from Hollywood was a result of introspection, as he expressed during an interview with People magazine in July 2024. He compared Hollywood to more than just a location, describing it as a mindset where conversations revolve around the film industry. Being surrounded by such discussions didn’t align with his aspirations, which were to be among people engaged in diverse activities and foster personal growth. In his own words, he yearned for the variety that life offers.
Consequently, Josh, his wife Tamsin Egerton, and their four children relocated to England’s Hampshire countryside. When speaking with The Guardian in July 2024, he acknowledged that time moves swiftly with four children, and although there seems to be less going on, the significant moments become more prevalent.
Despite his move, Josh has remained active and acquired roles in projects like Verity, Fight or Flight, and Trap.
If you haven’t been keeping up with your social media recently, you might not be aware that Jesse no longer resides in L.A. As shared in a February 2025 interview with CBS News Sunday Morning, Jesse has spent the last decade living on-and-off in Indiana, feeling most comfortable there and finding the entertainment industry to be somewhat unstable for him. Despite being an Oscar nominee, Jesse leads a relatively normal life with his wife Anna Strout and son Banner. He’s not active on social media and doesn’t often engage with industry contacts, which helps keep his life separate from Hollywood. His wife is a teacher, and their son, Banner, isn’t much into movies, so Jesse isn’t constantly evaluating his own standing in the entertainment world.
In the year 2024, I proudly unveiled my new journey: I’d earned certification in psychedelic-assisted therapy and was delving deeper into my education as a mental health specialist. Before this, I had graced various projects like ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ and the 2000s film ‘Bring It On’.
She shared with Boston Magazine that she had the opportunity to alter her life’s path towards self-healing, with the aim of later assisting others in their healing process. It would be inappropriate not to express the transformation, tranquility, and enthusiasm I now feel. This is undeniably my true vocation, my ultimate purpose.
In January 2025, a cast member of “The Flintstones,” along with her youngest child Clay, relocated to Ireland. She was in the midst of acquiring Irish citizenship since her grandparents hail from that European nation. Although she attributed her move to recent political changes, she didn’t dismiss the possibility of returning home at some point in the future.
In the TikTok video she shared, she expressed her longing for her other children, friends, and various aspects of life at home. She’s currently seeking a new home in this captivating country, and when everyone in America can enjoy equal rights safely, that’s when they might think about returning.
As a connoisseur of all things lifestyle, I must share a bit of news that has rippled through the acting world: After an impressive two-decade journey, the radiant star who graced our screens in “Ant-Man and The Wasp” has decided to take an open-ended break from her acting career. It’s always fascinating to witness such evolution in one’s chosen path.
In a post on Instagram last June, Evangeline expressed her overwhelming happiness and contentment, stating, “Today, I’m living my dream, and it brings me immense joy!” She went on to express her deep gratitude for her blessings. Despite moments of apprehension when choosing against wealth and fame, she emphasized that embracing one’s purpose (dharma) replaces fear with a sense of accomplishment.
However, it’s not a certainty that she’s closing the door permanently. Instead, she mentioned, “There’s a possibility I may revisit Hollywood someday, yet, at present, this is where I feel at home.
Since the conclusion of Netflix’s 2019 series “V-Wars,” an actor formerly associated with “The Vampire Diaries” hasn’t taken on a new acting role. Instead, he has channeled his energy into a personal endeavor, focusing on combating climate change through enhancing global soil health.
Ian, who is a father of two with Nikki Reed, shared in November 2023 that he took a break from acting approximately four years prior to focus on raising his kids, establishing his businesses, and releasing the documentaries “Kiss the Ground” (2020) and its sequel “Common Ground”. These films emphasize the importance of regenerative farming.
As he gazes into the future, the actor stated, “I see myself as a rancher and creator of enduring brand names, be it my bourbon or my health and wellness enterprise. My commitment to regenerative agriculture and soil management, which my family and I follow, will also be part of this journey. That’s the path my life is taking. So when folks ask ‘Why are you so invested?’ That’s why I am – because that’s who I am, that’s what I’m striving to become.
In a 2021 episode of her podcast titled “Empty Inside”, the former star from “iCarly” shared with her guest, Anna Faris, that she had stopped acting several years ago and now concentrates on ventures in scriptwriting and directing, along with hosting the podcast.
Jennette candidly shared that her background in acting has left her with a sense of shame about her past performances. In her memoir, “I’m Glad My Mom Died,” published in 2022, she elaborated on this feeling. She expressed resentment towards her career and the roles she played, describing them as cheesy and embarrassing. Starting at the age of 13, she was already feeling embarrassed by the shows she was on until she was 21. By the time she was 15, her peers weren’t impressed by her Nickelodeon show; instead, it was something she found embarrassing.
Although she hasn’t completely ruled out a return to acting, she expressed during an interview with TopMob News in October 2022 that writing the book has led her to consider the possibility of revisiting acting without the weight of past experiences. She suggested that if she were to write something tailored for herself, it could potentially be one of the few avenues for her to tentatively dip back into acting again.
This seemed like an obvious choice. If we had the chance to marry Prince Harry, devote our life to charitable endeavors that are close to our heart and gain access to the Queen’s stunning collection of tiaras, saying goodbye to Hollywood might not be so hard.
After walking a similar path as Grace Kelly from Hollywood to the Monaco Palace, Meghan Markle relinquished her life in Toronto, including her successful role on Suits, for a new life within The Firm. However, after stepping down from their senior positions and residing in Montecito, California, she has been gradually re-entering the business through strategic deals, such as the multi-year production agreement with Netflix.
In 2022, the Duchess of Sussex premiered her docuseries, Harry & Meghan, on Netflix, and in 2025, she launched her lifestyle show With Love, Meghan. Additionally, she has ventured into podcasts and expanded her brand, As Ever.
Since her first role in “The Mask” back in 1994, the actress had been involved in more than 40 films. By the time shooting ended on “Annie” in 2014, it was clear that she had worked tirelessly for a considerable period and was well-deserving of a much-needed rest.
She clarified to her friend Gwyneth Paltrow that she had recently made a change in her life, seeking new experiences instead of what she previously wanted. For a long time, she had been pushing herself hard with work and filmmaking, which took a toll on her. Making a movie, she pointed out, is an all-consuming endeavor; it keeps you busy for 12 hours a day, often for months, leaving little room for anything else.
Beyond what she had already delved into, there were numerous other areas she wished to investigate further. These included writing, as she continued her literary journey after the success of her 2013 New York Times bestseller, “The Body Book,” with the release of “The Longevity Book” in 2016. Additionally, she embarked on family life with husband Benji Madden. However, despite confessing in 2019 to InStyle that she no longer missed performing and was instead focusing on wellness, it appears that an exceptional circumstance might persuade her to take the stage once more.
Jamie Foxx expressed to TopMob News how they had humbly requested and shown great admiration towards Cameron, stating something like, “Please, could you do one more for us?” on bended knee. He shared his enthusiasm for having Cameron back in the 2025 Netflix film “Back in Action”, adding that they have long awaited her participation and are confident this collaboration will be extraordinary.
After wrapping up his five-year stint on Empire, the actor made it clear that there would be no additional performances. When asked about his future plans by Extra before the musical drama series started its sixth and last season in 2019, he plainly stated, “I’m quitting acting. I’m done with the pretense.
Despite coming back for a few projects, the Oscar nominee announced his intention to retire from acting while promoting his Peacock series “The Best Man: The Final Chapters” in 2022. In conversation with ET, he expressed that he has already given his best as an actor and is now content to observe budding talent instead of imitating himself.
Despite those earlier remarks, it’s worth noting that Howard has made appearances in additional shows and films since then. For instance, he can be seen in the TV series “Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist” and the Netflix film “Shirley”. Furthermore, there are several projects planned for him in the upcoming future.
2014 marked the abrupt, purple-tinted end of my reign as King Joffrey. At just 21, I shared with Entertainment Weekly that I was stepping away from acting. “I’ve been immersed in this world since I was eight,” I expressed about my reasons for leaving. “I simply didn’t find the joy in it like I once did.
Originally, acting was merely a pastime and a source of pleasure, shared with friends during leisure time or as a summer activity. However, now that the possibility of making a career out of it has presented itself, Jack finds himself in a different position. “I still appreciate it,” he explained, “but when you transform something you love into your livelihood, it shifts your perspective on it. It’s not about disliking it; I simply don’t see myself dedicating my life to it.
After a hiatus of six years, he was all set to pick up where he left off, re-entering the cast for BBC’s series “Out of Her Mind” in 2020. Since then, Jack has added roles in films such as “Rebecca’s Boyfriend” and “In the Land of Saints and Sinners,” as well as TV shows like “Safe Harbor” and “The Famous Five” to his resume.
In September 2020, when Jennifer Aniston played the role in “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” that would become her dream girl, she married actor Kevin Kline in 1989. They decided to take turns working so they wouldn’t be busy simultaneously, as they wanted to ensure proper care for their children, Owen and Greta (now known by the stage name Frankie Cosmos). This was something Kevin shared with Playboy.
Whenever it was Phoebe’s turn to work, she opted instead to stay with the children. Despite making a brief appearance in Jennifer Jason Leigh’s 2001 indie film “The Anniversary Party,” Cates primarily focuses on managing her New York City store, Blue Tree.
During the peak of his popularity with “Ghostbusters” and “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids,” the ’80s actor took a break from filmmaking not much time after his wife lost her life to breast cancer in 1991, shifting his focus towards raising his children Rachel and Mitchell instead.
Despite not taking on a live-action movie role since 1997, and turning down a cameo in Paul Feig’s 2016 Ghostbusters remake, Rick has continued to be an cherished cultural figure. This was evident when news broke about him being assaulted while walking in New York City in 2020, causing an outcry among fans.
Fortunately, there’s exciting news for enthusiasts: He’s set to make a comeback, sharing the screen with Josh Gad in the upcoming Disney reboot Shrunk.
After marrying fashion designer Adam Kimmel in 2010, the notable actress from “Never Been Kissed” suggested that she might be moving away from acting. She expressed this viewpoint to Vogue, stating, “Ninety percent of acting roles involve a lot of intimate scenes with other people, and I’m not interested in participating in that.” She further added, “It’s a peculiar and intense element of the profession, and while our relationship is robust enough to endure it, one must have a compelling reason to walk through such fire. There has to be something truly extraordinary awaiting on the other side.
After her son Martin moved in with her older daughter Louisanna in 2014, her resolve to step away from movie-related activities became firm. In 2016, she expressed this to Us Weekly during an event, stating, “I am no longer involved with movies; I’m entirely on the outside! Now, I am simply a mother and an outsider.” She added that she assists Kimmel with his business ventures and pursues painting as a hobby. Her primary focus, she said, is her children, which is likely the main reason for her decision to quit the movie industry.
She had previously watched shows like “Ally McBeal”, “Nip/Tuck”, “Arrested Development”, and ultimately “Scandal”. At this point, the Australian figured it might be time for her to make a change.
In 2018, she shared on Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show that at age 45, she found herself pondering if there was something new and difficult that she could undertake. She had a sense of what her acting career might look like for the next decade or two, so she chose to leave it behind and start a business instead.
She had only one more item to complete for her ongoing consumer-focused enterprise, General Public.
I reached out to Mitch Hurwitz, the mastermind behind “Arrested Development”, and shared with him that if there’s a fifth season, I wouldn’t participate due to my decision to quit acting. He appeared very understanding, and it was clear he comprehended my situation. We had an enjoyable chat, and later on, he included me in five episodes by writing for me.
After winning three Academy Awards, one might think there’s not much left to achieve in acting. Not long after earning his sixth Oscar nomination for his final film, “Phantom Thread” in 2017, the actor made headlines when his representatives announced that he would no longer be active in acting. He expressed deep gratitude towards all his colleagues and audiences over the years. This decision was personal, and neither he nor his team will provide any additional comments on this matter.
However, when Daniel believed he had escaped, his son, Ronan Day-Lewis, drew him back into the fold. In October 2024, Focus Features revealed that the Academy Award winner would star in Anemone, a film he co-wrote with his own son, who is also set to direct it.
In 2018, the former star of “Good Luck Charlie” chose to step away from the limelight and focus on furthering her education. She obtained a master’s degree from MIT and subsequently earned a Ph.D. from the same institution. Additionally, she attended Harvard Law School.
Furthermore, not only did Bridgit initiate her venture, Northwood Space, but she also assumed the role of CEO for this company in February 2023. The main objective of Northwood Space is to construct ground satellite stations for transmitting and receiving data from space.
