Ellen Pompeo’s Kids Stun Fans With Rare Hollywood Walk of Fame Appearance

Ellen Pompeo‘s kids are all grown up.

On April 29th, the actress from “Grey’s Anatomy” received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Her husband, Chris Ivery, who has been married to her for 17 years, along with two of their children, Stella Luna (age 15) and Eli (age 9), were all present to offer their support during the event.

On that uncommon family excursion, I, Stella, towered slightly over my mother as we both struck poses before the cameras, with me elegantly dressed in a midi black polka-dot dress and tan heeled sandals, and our shared engraved star gleaming behind us.

In the photograph, Eli, sandwiched between Ellen and Chris, appeared more mature than before. The youngest of the pair sported a navy suit with a white T-shirt beneath it, and he shyly flashed a smile as his wavy brown hair fell across his brow.

Regarding Ellen, aged 55, she maintained elegance while wearing a salmon turtleneck top paired with a black midi skirt featuring a frilled hem. At some point, she exchanged a heartwarming chuckle and hug with Chris, 57, who was dapper in gray suit pants, a coordinating vest, and a white shirt.

Remarkably missing from the event was the couple’s 10-year-old daughter, Sienna. Yet, Ellen made a point to acknowledge her, speaking to photographers during the occasion and saying, “Let’s all shout out for Sienna because she couldn’t be here!” (Source: People)

Moreover, the actress from the “Good American Family” acknowledged that her success was also due to the significant roles played by her other children.

During her speech, Ellen emphasized that significant change doesn’t occur swiftly or effortlessly; instead, it requires time, effort, and collective action – much like a village working together. She also expressed her affection for Stella and Eli by saying, “I love you, Stella. I love you, Eli.

In turn, the actress publicly thanked those who had been instrumental in her journey, such as Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes, who enthusiastically backed her during the event as well.

“Shonda allowed me to have a career,” Ellen noted in her speech, “and get paid and be a mother.”

Furthermore, Shonda expressed similar sentiments during her speech, acknowledging that she is equally thankful for having had the opportunity to collaborate with the Old School actor.

As a devoted admirer, I’d rephrase it this way: “Ellen Pompeo embodies Meredith Grey in the eyes of the world on Scandal, and she carries that role with grace. However, for those fortunate enough to know her personally, Ellen is the one who truly shines. Her most significant role is being authentic, and when she’s just being herself, she’s at her best.

To catch up on what more Grey’s Anatomy doctors are up to now, keep reading.

In the third season, Burke left Cristina at the altar and vanished, eventually winning a Harper Avery Award at another location. Later, he settled in Zurich, Switzerland to establish his own high-tech medical facility. He married, started a family, and then in the tenth season, as he retired, he invited Cristina to take over his hospital.

Isaiah Washington departed the show following allegations that he used a derogatory term towards his costar T.R. Knight during an on-set dispute with Patrick Dempsey. His attempts at defense only worsened the situation until ultimately, he was dismissed from the series. However, it appears there was reconciliation between Washington and ABC, as they allowed him to rejoin the cast in 2014.

Regarding Washington’s comments on the matter, he later publicly apologized and admitted that he needs to look deeper into personal matters. Specifically, he acknowledged that there are aspects of himself he must re-evaluate, and he sought assistance in doing so.

Since he left “Grey’s Anatomy”, he has taken on roles such as Thelonious Jaha in the TV series “The 100” on The CW, where his character met his end in season five. Later, he appeared in the critically praised show “P-Valley” on Starz.

As a devoted fan, I followed the captivating journey of the character Izzie Stevens. She was diagnosed with cancer, bravely fought it, and later tied the knot with Alex Karev. After surviving cancer, she seemed to vanish during season six, only to reappear for a second time, confessing that Seattle no longer felt like home to her. Later events unfolded, leading to Alex receiving divorce papers. However, what we didn’t know was that Izzie had secretly given birth to twins and relocated to a ranch in Kansas. Now, she’s practicing as a surgical oncologist.

Katherine Heigl stopped being part of the show around 2008 when she chose not to be considered for an Emmy award because she felt the content wasn’t worthy. By 2010, her character was no longer present. In the years following, Heigl expressed a desire to reprise her role, but creator Shonda Rhimes declined. “I’m finished with that story,” she told TVLine in 2015.

Initially a rising romantic comedy actress, Heigl subsequently appeared in several more romcoms before transitioning back to television with “State of Affairs,” followed by “Doubt,” and most recently, she played an arc on “Suits” and starred in “Firefly Lane” until its conclusion in 2023.

In the fourth season, young Intern Norman faced the challenge of disproving people’s mistaken beliefs that he was actually an attending, not just an intern, because of his advanced age. Later on, he made a mistake by informing a patient she was dying, and subsequently had a stroke himself. After undergoing surgery to remove a blood clot, Norman decided post-surgery that he wanted to switch departments and focus on psychology instead.

Edward Herrmann, a well-respected actor with quite a reputation, is particularly remembered for his role as Richard Gilmore on the popular series “Gilmore Girls.” He also made appearances in numerous episodes of shows like “The Good Wife,” “Harry’s Law,” and even “American Dad” before he passed away in 2014.

In the show, Sydney temporarily replaced Bailey during her maternity leave and became known for her bubbly personality which often irritated others. She had a brief romantic encounter with Derek at one point, but she faded away in the early part of season four. However, she made a comeback for the 21st season in 2024.

Most recently, Kali Rocha has appeared in Disney’s shows “Liv and Maddie” and “Man with a Plan,” as well as an upcoming episode of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” set to air in 2024.

Among the most heart-wrenching stories on this list, during season five, George made a fateful decision to become an army trauma surgeon and set off on his journey when a remarkable event occurred. He bravely shielded a woman from getting struck by a bus, but in doing so, he was hit instead. His injuries were severe, leaving him unrecognizable upon arrival at the hospital. It wasn’t until he managed to write his nickname “007” on Meredith’s hand using his finger that anyone recognized him. Unfortunately, the doctors could not save him, and he passed away tragically.

Following a series of challenging backstage periods (such as Isaiah Washington reportedly uttering a profanity while speaking about him), Knight faced difficulties with some of George’s plotlines and the scarcity of George’s appearances during the early part of season five, leading to a request for termination of his contract.

In the year 2017, Knight revisited Shondaland to star in a segment of “The Catch,” and he’s also made appearances on shows like “The Good Wife,” “11.22.63,” and “Genius.” Additionally, he lent his voice to several series, including “The Bravest Knight” from 2019 up until 2024. From the years 2020 to 2022, you might have seen him in the HBO Max series “The Flight Attendant,” alongside Kaley Cuoco.

He also returned to Grey’s for one episode to meet Meredith during her COVID-19 coma in season 17.

In the early fifth season, the romantic involvement between Erica Hahn and Callie Torres seemed promising, but it ended abruptly when Erica discovered that Izzie Stevens had severed Denny Duquette’s LVAD wire in an attempt to save his life. The heart subsequently transplanted into Denny was from one of Erica’s patients. When Callie declined to disclose this situation, Erica decided to walk away from both the relationship and her job at that point.

Brooke Smith made appearances in a variety of shows, including Bosch, Bates Motel, Supergirl, The Good Doctor, Chicago Med, and The Good Fight, as well as the 2019 movie Bombshell.

Most recently, she had arcs in Ryan Murphy‘s Grotesquerie, The Recruit and The Hunting Party

Initially, Ryan, our intern, was missing during the early stages of season six. More recently, Brandon Scott has been featured in shows like “Dead To Me” on Netflix, “13 Reasons Why”, “This Is Us”, and “The Good Doctor”.

Despite the frequent turmoil that many Grey’s interns seem to stir up, Megan might opt for the scalpel instead. She found herself in a complicated love triangle involving Steve and Pierce. While she was dating Pierce, she slept with Steve, which led to Pierce wanting to harm Steve. Megan became pregnant by Steve, eventually married him, but has been absent from the show since season six following Derek Shepherd’s decision to rehire her.

Molly Kidder has taken on several acting roles since her appearance in ‘Grey’s’, such as a guest spot on ‘Outsourced’ in 2010 and some independent films. Additionally, she made an appearance as an extra in ‘Ghosts’ in the year 2025.

In the TV series, character Joe Williamson, who was once entangled in the love triangle of Megan/Pierce/Steve, eventually lost his job during layoffs and departed in season six. Since then, he has made appearances on shows such as ‘Here and Now’ and the 2019 movie ‘Ford v Ferrari’, alongside acting greats like Christian Bale and Matt Damon.

Steve found himself at the opposite end of a workplace romance triangle, ultimately wedding Megan and starting a family with her. Despite facing job cuts, he managed to stay on until the eighth season, but then disappeared without a trace.

Since his enigmatic vanishing from Grey’s, Mark Saul has made guest appearances on various TV shows, such as Franklin & Bash, Mom, The Great Indoors, Grace & Frankie, Modern Family, and I Think You Should Leave.

In season six, Nurse Olivia was let go due to a merger with Mercy West. However, she reappeared briefly in season 14 when her son accidentally swallowed a toy during a visit to her parents in Seattle. Notably, Alex, who had previously given Olivia syphilis, took care of her son during this incident. This provided ample opportunity for Olivia to converse with Jo, Alex’s then-fiancée.

Since her departure from Grey’s Anatomy in 2009, Sarah Utterback has appeared on various TV shows, such as Reception and Mysteries of Laura. She also made a brief appearance on the show 9-1-1 in 2024.

Previously unaccounted-for intern Graciella was last spotted during the hospital shooting in season six finale, while Gloria Garayua has been consistently busy with work. This includes a stint on How to Get Away with Murder, guest roles on S.W.A.T, The Good Doctor, American Housewife, Animal Kingdom, Snowfall, Criminal Minds, NCIS: LA, Anger Management, Bones, and the 2019 miniseries Reckoning. Additionally, she portrayed Rona in a 2024 episode of Tracker.

In season six, it was Nora who tragically became the initial victim when Gary Clark, armed with a deadly weapon, aimed to take Derek’s life at the hospital. She lost her life instantly upon sustaining a gunshot wound to the head.

Actress Nora Zehetner made guest appearances on a few episodes of ‘Mad Men’ following her departure from ‘Grey’s Anatomy’. She later starred on ‘Designated Survivor’ and the 2019 series ‘The Right Stuff’, and more recently, she portrayed Melissa in ‘Grosse Point Garden Society’ in 2025.

In the sixth season, Percy unfortunately met his end. Unlike other deaths, his was prolonged since he became trapped in a room with Mandy Moore’s character and Bailey. He was shot at point-blank range. Despite Bailey’s valiant efforts to save him, their fate took a turn for the worse when the elevators malfunctioned during the evacuation, ultimately sealing Percy’s destiny.

Robert Baker has been thriving since then, making appearances on shows like Riverdale, Modern Family, The Originals, and more recently as Otis Graves on Supergirl. In the year 2025, he re-entered the medical field at a new hospital, starring in an episode of St. Denis Medical.

OBGYN Lucy seemingly took a remarkable job in Africa from Alex without him knowing, as he hadn’t discussed his potential move to Africa with her. Consequently, Lucy relocated to Africa, and no further news about her was heard following the seventh season.

Currently, Rachel Taylor is widely recognized for her role as Jessica Jones’ friend Trish on the Netflix series “Jessica Jones” and “The Defenders”. Moreover, she made an appearance in a 2024 episode of the show “Hacks”.

Addison, who started off as Derek’s disgruntled ex-wife but later turned into a beloved character with her own series spinoff, was most recently seen as a recurring character on Grey’s Anatomy during the somewhat contentious musical episode in season seven. This is when she played a crucial role in saving Callie after her car accident. She also made appearances in episodes such as one from 2012 where Meredith imagined her mother was alive and married to Richard, while Derek and Addison were still unhappily married. Later, she reappeared for an extended arc in 2023.

She ended Private Practice married to Jake (Benjamin Bratt) with a son, Henry.

In various roles, she made appearances in the series Fargo, starred in her brief program Bad Judge, portrayed a mourning mother in 13 Reasons Why, and contributed to the apocalypse in The Umbrella Academy. She can currently be seen on the 2020 show Emily in Paris, and she made an appearance in a 2025 episode of Optics.

In another heartbreaking turn of events, Lexie, Meredith’s lively half-sister, met an untimely end in one of the show’s most heart-wrenching storylines – the plane crash. Tragically, she did not survive the accident and failed to reach the hospital (known as Seattle Grace at the time). During the crash, she was pinned beneath a piece of the plane while her beloved, Mark Sloan, mourned her loss. In a touching moment during Meredith’s coma due to COVID-19, Lexie and Mark reappeared, suggesting that they had reunited in the afterlife and found solace in each other again.

Actress Chyler Leigh made an appearance in the amusingly titled show “Taxi Brooklyn” prior to assuming the role of the tough Alex Danvers on “Supergirl”. Since 2023, she has been portraying Kat Landry in Hallmark’s production “The Way Home”.

In the eighth season, Mark, more famously known as McSteamy, didn’t perish instantly in the plane crash. Instead, he managed to return to the hospital, but his injuries were too extensive and he lived only for a few days. The hospital, a tribute to both him and Lexie, was later renamed in their honor. This was made possible by the survivors of the plane crash who pooled their lawsuit winnings together to purchase it. Mark and Lexie visited Meredith in her coma, suggesting that the pair found each other again beyond death.

Eric Dane departed from his show to headline TNT’s “The Last Ship,” which concluded after five seasons in November 2018. At present, he features alongside Zendaya in HBO’s series “Euphoria,” set for its third season.

Do you recall the OGYN resident that Jo dated during season nine? Their relationship ended violently when he discovered her secrets and the argument escalated to a physical altercation. This led to Jason suffering an injury after falling and hitting his head in the hospital. Despite Alex’s persuasion, he opted not to file charges against Jo. Since then, he has disappeared from the series.

After his initial role, Charles Michael Davis has since been featured in various shows including “The Originals” on The CW, “Younger” on TV Land, “For the People” on ABC, and “Chicago P.D.” on NBC. More recently, he made an appearance in a 2022 episode of “Legacies”.

In season 10, the peculiar intern Heather met her untimely demise during a massive storm. Tragically, she was electrocuted while attempting to aid Richard Webber.

Tina Majorino most recently appeared on CBS’ Scorpion and an episode of The Good Doctor.

Dr. Herman took on an excessively demanding role as a mentor in fetal surgery for Dr. Sheppard in Arizona. However, she appeared far more understanding once Arizona discovered about Nicole’s large, terminal brain tumor. Amelia managed to remove the tumor, but eventually, Herman lost her sight and decided to depart during season 11. Nevertheless, she returned during season 14 to assist Arizona in leaving the show by providing grant money to establish a women’s health center in New York.

In 2016, Geena Davis appeared in “The Exorcist” on Fox, prior to her reappearance on “Grey’s Anatomy”. More recently, she has been a recurring cast member in Netflix’s “GLOW” and the revamped “She-Ra” series. These days, though, she primarily works behind the scenes, serving as executive producer for “Mission Unstoppable With Miranda Cosgrove”.

After the plane crash, Cristina Yang experienced a particularly challenging period and took a considerable amount of time to fully heal. Later, she found out that she couldn’t win the Harper Avery award while working at that hospital, which made her consider moving on. Eventually, her old flame Preston Burke invited her to Zurich to manage the advanced hospital he had established, allowing him to retire with his family. In season 10, she said goodbye following a farewell dance party with Meredith.

At present, Sandra Oh is making significant waves in television, gracing our screens as Eve in the highly praised BBC America show “Killing Eve,” which earned her a Golden Globe. Similar to Geena Davis, she additionally appears in a recurring role on Netflix’s “She-Ra and the Princesses of Power.” Furthermore, she provides voice acting for a character within Robert Kirkman’s animated series “Invincible.

Shane, initially an overconfident intern, later became a full-fledged resident who worked excessively, almost burning out. However, he developed a strong bond with Cristina and requested to accompany her to Zurich, which he ultimately did.

Gaius Charles, best known for his role as Smash Williams from Friday Night Lights, has previously acted in Aquarius and Taken, and more recently can be seen on The Walking Dead: Dead City.

As I found myself immersed in a new chapter working for President Barack Obama in Washington D.C., my personal life took a turn for the complex. The pull to bring Meredith and our family along was strong, but she chose to stay put. For a while, we navigated life apart, a situation that tested us both. But in the end, I made the decision to return home and maintain my professional commitments remotely, with the aim of mending what mattered most: our relationship.

In the same vein as their reunion in season 11, he was headed to resolve some outstanding matters when he stumbled upon a severe road accident. He devoted numerous hours attending to the injured victims, but unfortunately, just after returning to his vehicle, he was struck by a truck himself. The medical staff at the hospital where the ambulance transported him were not equipped to handle trauma cases and neglected to perform a head CT scan, ultimately resulting in his demise.

Patrick Dempsey explained his departure from the series by stating that it became challenging to maintain captivating storylines and he desired more time with his loved ones. Consequently, he requested an early release from his contract. Following his exit from Grey’s Anatomy, he took on roles in Bridget Jones’ Baby, The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair miniseries, the show Devils, commercials reminding us of his past TV doctor role, and now stars in Dexter: Original Sin.

He shockingly returned to Grey’s for a series of dream sequences in season 17.

It appears that Leah Murphy, the resident in question, experienced numerous difficulties prior to being dismissed during season 10. She simply didn’t seem suited for a career as a surgeon. However, unexpectedly, she reappeared in season 13, this time collaborating with Maggie. A couple of episodes later, her return was as sudden as it had been initially – she disappeared once more.

Tessa Ferrer appeared in the Hulu version of the World War II miniseries “Catch-22” alongside George Clooney in 2019, and she was featured in “Grotesquerie” in 2024 as well.

Callie departed Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital when her somewhat contentious girlfriend Penny received an esteemed fellowship in New York. Despite a heart-wrenching custody battle loss against Arizona, she had planned to remain in Seattle. However, during the final episode of season 12, Arizona unexpectedly changed her mind and assisted Callie with moving away, taking Sofia along with them.

As a die-hard admirer, I can’t help but share my excitement about Sara Ramirez’s career journey! Initially, they graced CBS’ hit series, Madame Secretary, before stepping into the role of the contentious Che Diaz on HBO’s reboot, Sex and the City: And Just Like That. Fast forward to 2024, they lent their voice to the character Amber in the animated series, Velma. It’s been a thrilling ride watching Sara grow and evolve as an artist!

Penelope’s tenure at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital was challenging right from the get-go. She stepped in as Callie’s new partner, carrying a controversial past as one of the doctors accused of killing Derek. To make matters worse, she had to deal with Meredith’s grumpy demeanor. Matters escalated when she landed a high-profile job in New York City, causing a bitter custody dispute between Callie and Arizona. In the end, it was announced that Penelope and Callie had parted ways (which led to Arizona moving to New York), but their relationship never seemed promising from the start.

Samantha Sloyan continued her acting career, becoming a prominent figure in shows like The Haunting of Hill House as Leigh, SEAL Team, and The Rookie. In 2025, she returned to medical settings by joining the cast of The Pitt.

In Season 13, Minnick stepped in to replace Richard Webber as the residents’ instructor, but her strict adherence to rules and seemingly cold demeanor led to widespread dislike, even causing Meredith to face suspension. Her excessive focus on protocol ultimately resulted in her being fired when she failed to inform the police that a resident was missing during a fire, which nearly proved fatal for Stephanie.

I, a diehard fan here, couldn’t contain my excitement when Marika Dominczyk teamed up with ABC for the brief-lived series “Whiskey Cavalier,” starring none other than my beloved Scott Foley, who graced the screens of “Grey’s Anatomy” before this!

At the conclusion of season 13, Stephanie made up her mind to venture out and discover fresh experiences. This decision came after she narrowly escaped a fire, followed by several months of weariness and sorrow over the demise of her boyfriend Kyle (Wilmer Valderrama).

Jerrika Hinton made her mark by starring in the brief-running HBO drama “Here and Now” in 2018, and furthermore, she became a part of the Amazon series “Hunters”, playing a role as a hunter of Nazis. In 2024, she was seen as Lycia in “The Accused”.

In the early stages of season 14, Nathan decided to depart from Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital because his long-awaited dream finally materialized: his fiancée, Megan Hunt, who had been held captive for a decade, came back. The two of them, along with the child Megan had adopted while abroad, relocated to Los Angeles. This event marked the end of his developing relationship with Meredith, but it represented a tremendously joyful conclusion for Riggs.

Martin Henderson, interestingly known for his role in Britney Spears’ music video for “Toxic,” will continue to feature in the TV series ‘Virgin River’ up until 2024.
