Emma Corrin and Jack Lowden to Star in Netflix’s Pride and Prejudice

The upcoming Netflix adaptation of Pride and Prejudice has cast Emma Corrin from The Crown as Lizzie Bennett and Jack Lowden from Slow Horses as Mr Darcy, portraying these iconic literary figures.

Yesterday, there were whispers about Lowden’s involvement, but today it’s confirmed: He will indeed be part of the cast, sharing the screen with Corrin as the primary Lizzie Bennet, and Olivia Colman (from The Favourite) portraying the unconventional Mrs. Bennet, their mother.

The production will become a six-part mini-series, and it’s anticipated that filming will begin in the UK towards the end of 2025.

The Netflix version of this project will be penned by Dolly Alderton, known for “Everything I Know About Love”, and directed by Euros Lyn, who’s also taking on the role of executive producer along with Corrin, in this upcoming production.

In a statement, Alderton expressed his gratitude by saying, “It’s a rare privilege to get to re-tell an amazing tale like this, and I consider myself incredibly fortunate to be included in the group retelling it.

She went on to say: “Jane Austen’s ‘Pride and Prejudice’ serves as the foundation for modern romantic comedies. It has been a pleasure to revisit its chapters, uncovering both recognizable and innovative methods to breathe new life into this cherished novel.

Corrin expressed: “Portraying Elizabeth Bennet is an unparalleled chance. It’s a privilege to breathe life into such an iconic figure, working together with Olivia, Jack, and under Dolly’s brilliant scriptwriting, is simply the highest honor imaginable.

“I can’t wait for a new generation to fall in love with this story all over again.”

In 2022, Netflix had already attempted an adaptation of Jane Austen’s works, as they had previously released a series based on “Persuasion” featuring Dakota Johnson in the main character. Now, they are planning another series, this time adapting “Pride and Prejudice”.
