Emmerdale airs sinister John Sugden mystery in ITVX episode

Following an unfortunate mishap during surgery that led to a solitary outburst at the junkyard, John ended up dozing off on the couch. This left his fiancé, Aaron Dingle (played by Danny Miller), feeling anxious about his wellbeing.

In a different phrasing, we could say that John dismissed the issue casually, but when he encountered patient Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton) at the café, his resolve was strengthened by her choice to indulge in an unhealthy meal for breakfast.

Delighted by this find, John extended an invitation to Aaron for lunch at The Hide. However, what ensued was a disagreement with his superior, Liam Cavanagh, played by Jonny McPherson.

When John suggested that Kerry wasn’t taking care of herself as a reason for his incorrect diagnosis, Liam firmly rejected this explanation and announced he would be scrutinizing all of John’s latest assignments instead.

Liam informed John that this should be considered a formal warning, which left John, quite astonished, without an appetite for dinner.

As Aaron approached to meet him, John instructed Aaron to keep his distance – to which Aaron responded that if John continued acting like this, he would stay away permanently.

Listening in on their conversation, John’s half-sibling Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) trailed after him, encouraging him to disclose more about the situation he was in.

Previously, John admitted that there was an error in the treatment of a patient who happened to be part of the military, as this individual experienced an adverse reaction to certain medication.

In a compassionate manner, Vic clarified that she nearly led to Jacob Gallagher’s (Joe-Warren Plant) fatal incident due to him consuming food with nuts, an allergen he has a severe reaction to.

1. She encouraged John to let go and recognize that he’d act differently next time, while later, Vic informed Aaron of the update.

2. She motivated John to move past his current situation and understand that he would handle things differently in the future, and eventually, Vic passed the news on to Aaron.

3. She convinced John to leave the past behind and realize that he’d make better choices moving forward, and afterwards, Vic shared the update with Aaron.

4. She advised John to progress and learn from his mistakes, knowing he would approach things differently in the future, and eventually, Vic brought Aaron up to speed.

5. She counseled John to advance and adapt, recognizing that he’d change his methods for the better next time, and ultimately, Vic apprised Aaron of the situation.

Meanwhile, John was seen in the hospital room of a mysterious man, who was on a ventilator.

“What am I gonna have to do?” John asked darkly.

Is it possible that, given Jacob’s impending anaphylactic shock this week, John might take advantage of Vic’s mistake and intervene, perhaps appearing as a hero by saving Jacob from harm?

Who is the person John is meeting? Is it possible that he’s the soldier John had a conflict with, or could it be Aidan Moore instead? Or could these two men be one and the same individual?

A series of flashbacks are on the way, so we may be about to get our answers.
