As a long-time Emmerdale fan and someone who has seen the Dingle family go through their fair share of trials and tribulations, I must say that this latest turn of events has left me utterly heartbroken. The news of Zak’s death hits particularly hard, given my personal connection to the character and his profound impact on the village.

In the recent episode of Emmerdale on ITV, it was revealed that Zak Dingle, portrayed by Steve Halliwell, has passed away. This devastating news was received by his son Cain, played by Jeff Hordley.
Over the past few weeks, Cain had been making trips to Scotland, a place where his daughter Debbie (Charley Webb) was residing along with an ailing Zak.
Simultaneously, Cain’s spouse Moira (played by Natalie J Robb) is coping with a brain tumor, and she was observed having a conversation over the phone with him.
After hanging up the call, Moira had an absence seizure and burned herself making breakfast.
In her care was her son, Matty Barton (played by Ash Palmisciano), yet Moira found herself exasperated due to her inability to accomplish even the most basic tasks.
After receiving a call indicating her surgery would happen tomorrow, Moira felt an overwhelming sense of fear but hesitated to inform Cain about it.
Worried about undergoing such a risky treatment, Moira suggested to Matty that they take a stroll through the fields, where her deceased daughter Holly (Sophie Powles) rests.
Matty strongly believed that Holly would prefer their mother to keep battling for her life. In time, Moira reluctantly consented to undergo the surgery, yet she was taken aback when Cain unexpectedly returned home, intending to surprise her.
Cain observed that Zak appeared to be improving, yet Moira remained silent regarding her operation. Matty departed, leaving the pair on their own, but Cain sensed there was an issue. Moira attempted to brush it off, and he moved upstairs, though he knew something wasn’t right.
However, when Debbie called, it was with heavy heart that Moira needed to inform a somber Cain that their father, Zak, had tragically passed away.
It has been officially revealed that the much-adored Zak will be buried in the cherished village he held dear. Meanwhile, an unknown family member is expected to appear at his grave site! Who could this person be, and will Zak receive a fitting farewell?
