Warning: The Emmerdale episode airing on the 10th of April (available for streaming on ITVX) has significant plot twists that you might not want to know about before watching.
In the world of soaps, I’ve always been an avid fan, and for me, the truth behind the enigmatic character of John Sugden, skillfully portrayed by Oliver Farnworth, has finally emerged on the Emmerdale stage.
In a natural and easy-to-read manner, the ITV soap started its newest episode by featuring Dr. John reminiscing about significant events that occurred during his time in the village.
Among these events, there were instances where lives were saved – those of fiancé Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller), his mother Chas (Lucy Pargeter), and also his sisters-in-law Ruby (Beth Cordingly) and Moira (Natalie J Robb).
Eager to win favor with Dr. Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson), John resorted to stealing Jacob’s crucial AAI pen and secretly replaced his coffee with one containing almond milk, knowing full well that Jacob had a severe allergy to it.
In a startling incident, Jacob suffered an anaphylactic reaction in full view of his ex-girlfriend, Victoria (played by Isabel Hodgins) who is John’s sister, leaving him frantically searching for his missing pen, while John swiftly stepped forward to help.
Jacob’s condition was rapidly worsening, and John provided him with necessary care as well as telling Vic to contact Liam and request an ambulance.

Jacob got well again, and Liam, being greatly amazed by John, decided to withdraw the formal reprimand he had earlier issued to him.
John felt thrilled as his plan successfully unfolded, and he enthusiastically rejoiced with Aaron, ultimately being warmly acknowledged as a hero at The Woolpack.
In this section, we delve into the shocking details that reveal the true depth of John’s deceitful acts.
During the entire episode, it became clear through a series of flashbacks that John was responsible for all the charges against Ella Forster (Paula Lane).
John engaged in various acts of mischief, ranging from altering Charlie’s medication, to smashing a window at the pub, and even canceling his wedding with Liam.
However, what we witnessed during the barn blaze was not all; it was also when we caught a glimpse of Nate’s (Jurell Carter) final living moments.

With Nate enduring agony following his father Cain’s (Jeff Hordley) assault, John stepped in and readied a syringe containing something intended for relief.
It seemed clear that John aimed to assist Nate, haunted by recollections as he grappled with the possibility of losing another patient during the current timeframe.
To John’s dismay, Nate suddenly fell unconscious, and it appears that he might have experienced an adverse reaction to John’s medical intervention.
It was a shocking sight for John as Nate suddenly passed out; and it appears possible that Nate is the person reported with an unfavorable response to John’s treatment.
In a tragic turn of events, it was John’s actions that led to Nate’s demise. Left with the grim task, John prepared and disposed of Nate’s body by throwing him over some railings into the lake. Later, near the water’s edge, Amy Barton (also known as Natalie Ann Jamieson) spotted a familiar bracelet on his wrist.
As it turns out, Nate’s ex-wife Tracy (played by Amy Walsh) has been caught red-handed with theft charges due to financial hardships without Nate’s support payments. This situation is causing Nate’s family to question why he hasn’t reached out to them.
Will Nate’s body ever be found?
In regards to the thrilling unveilings, Farnworth expressed his satisfaction that viewers have finally seen John’s true nature: “Indeed, what I find most intriguing is that viewers get to learn this before anyone else in the village. It’s like giving them a peek into these hidden secrets that John has been concealing.
“Keeping secrets has been a source of great stress and distress for him. I believe that revealing these secrets will create quite a stir, but let’s see what the response is! It was inevitable that this would happen eventually, so I’m relieved it’s happened now.
