Emmerdale Spoilers: Lydia Dingle Supports April Windsor’s Traumatic Story

This article contains discussion of baby loss that some readers may find distressing.

Next week, Lydia Dingle (played by Karen Blick) will lend her understanding ear to the family of Emmerdale’s April Windsor (portrayed by Amelia Flanagan), as the troubled teenager readjusts to life at home after a challenging time.

In the latest episode on February 7th, 2025, it was revealed that April had suffered a tragic stillbirth while homeless, and she subsequently returned to her hometown.

Ross Barton (played by Michael Parr) found joy observing April at a distance, yet she appeared distressed upon unwrapping one of her Christmas gifts that lay untouched for her.

As I stepped out of my abode, seeking a breath of fresh air, I found myself preoccupied with concerns. Yet, Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock), in a gesture that spoke volumes, opted to grant his daughter the much-needed solitude she sought.

April found herself standing at Donna’s grave (played by Verity Rushworth), where she later was joined by Ross. It was then that she shared with him the news of her pregnancy and the tragic loss of her newborn daughter.

While talking to Marlon, Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw) shared his personal insight from experiencing homelessness, explaining that such a situation can sometimes make a person feel less than fully human. He suggested that April might just require some time to adapt to the changes.

Marlon pondered if it would be wiser to bring up the topic of the baby, or let April decide. He found himself a little wounded that she opted to confide in Ross rather than him, yet the very fact she was addressing it was a promising development.

On Monday, February 10th, 2025, when Emmerdale resumes, Marlon and his wife Rhona Goskirk (played by Zoë Henry) decide to seek help from someone who can empathize with April’s emotions.

While living in care as a teen, Lydia had a stillborn baby boy who she named Toby.

Stricken with despair and feeling isolated, Lydia laid Toby to rest, adopted a new identity, and could discuss the ordeal that befell her many years down the line.

Now, Lydia will put her own pain aside and open up to Marlon and Rhona about her own trauma.

Later on, April becomes quiet as her parents navigate a sensitive discussion regarding a visit to the funeral home chapel.

Upon arrival, Marlon stands spellbound at the sight of the miniature casket, as April, overcome with emotion, quickly departs.

A heartbroken Marlon is left alone to say a few parting words to his granddaughter.

Upon reaching Smithy Cottage again, Marlon and Rhona attempt to contact April one last time. However, they find themselves distressed due to what seems like April’s lack of emotion following their emotionally charged day together.
