Emmerdale’s Belle Dingle in fear over Tom King trial in ITVX edition

As a reviewer who has witnessed the tumultuous lives of countless characters unfold on our screens, I must say that Belle Dingle‘s storyline in Emmerdale has truly captured my attention. The latest episode, with its tense moments and emotional depth, left me gripped to the edge of my seat.

Warning: The events of today’s Emmerdale episode on the 17th of December, 2024 have been revealed, which can now be watched on ITVX.

We’ve been left wondering what Belle Dingle’s (Eden Taylor-Draper) next move will be ahead of abusive ex-husband Tom King’s (James Chase) trial in the latest instalment of Emmerdale.

As Tom lay in the hospital following a suicide attempt, it quickly emerged that the character was devising a plan to disrupt his upcoming trial and undermine Belle’s conviction in testifying.

Charity Dingle, played by Emma Atkins, argued with Belle about Tom’s apparent suicide attempt being a hoax, but Belle sternly warned Charity against making light of such a grave matter.

Unable to bear the weight of Tom’s passing on her conscience, Belle sought out Paddy Dingle (Dominic Brunt) – someone who had contemplated suicide in the past – for his perspective and wisdom.

Paddy lacked the authority to speak for others, yet he emphasized that Belle was not responsible for Tom’s behavior.)

Meanwhile, Charity went to see Tom, keen to make him admit his suicide attempt was all an act.

As I watched the scene unfold, it became evident that something was amiss with Belle based on Charity’s behavior. To my surprise, Tom picked up on this subtle cue, revealing a deeper understanding of the characters’ dynamics.

Charity felt remorseful about her trip, as Tom confided in hesitant attorney Oliver (Alistair Toovey) that it was fortunate Belle wouldn’t factor into the picture when he faced trial for allegations of controlling behavior and assault.

In time, Belle discovered that her previous manslaughter case was eligible for debate in court, which filled her with apprehension as she anticipated a grim outlook for herself.

Charity advised Belle to realize that Tom might be deceiving her, as she had seen him. However, Belle found it hard to make up her mind, since she couldn’t dismiss the possibility that Tom was genuinely suffering from a mental illness.

Will Belle see through his vile behaviour?
