Emmerdale’s Isabel Hodgins teases Victoria’s big John Sugden discovery

As a seasoned soap opera enthusiast with over two decades of viewing under my belt, I must say that the latest twist in Emmerdale has me intrigued. The dynamic between Victoria Sugden and her newfound half-brother John Sugden is reminiscent of a cat-and-mouse game, albeit with a dash of sibling rivalry.

In a twist, actress Isabel Hodgins hinted at her character Victoria Sugden’s significant revelation concerning her new sibling, John Sugden (portrayed by Oliver Farnworth). She accidentally unearthed not one but two of his hidden truths.

Audience members are familiar with John holding a military dog tag labeled ‘Aidan Moore’. The question now arises: Could the truth about this tag be unveiled in the near future?

She’s essentially coerced him into the pub by hinting at some old photos she wants to share with him. She mentioned something like, “I found some old pictures I’d like to show you.” While going through them, it’s clear he’s not interested and couldn’t care less about them.

Additionally, it’s apparent that even Matty acknowledges their appeal and attempts to express enthusiasm, saying things like “Yeah, they’re cool” or “Oh, that’s your mom, that’s nice.” However, John seems completely indifferent towards them as he gives no response.

As John was engrossed in his phone, Victoria took it away from him. “She’s blatantly ignoring his personal space,” Hodgins pointed out.

I notice there are several messages from Aaron, and one of them stands out as unusual. This discovery leaves me quite surprised. Consequently, I inquire, “Hey, what’s up with all the messages from Aaron? Why is he texting you so frequently?

She might be surprised or taken aback, as the dynamic of her relationship with Aaron has shifted from him being involved with Robert to being in a relationship with Victoria instead.

Currently, he is primarily her friend. This creates a hint of betrayal, as if she’s wondering, “Why is he taking these actions against me when he’s supposed to be my friend?

Her main concern stems from the fact that Aaron has a history with Robert, whom she views as a potential risk. If their relationship persists and things don’t go well, John might decide to depart from the village, which she desperately wishes to avoid. This is why she is so apprehensive about this situation.

Victoria accidentally finds herself rummaging through John’s van, despite Hodgins asserting that her curiosity isn’t premeditated! It just so happened because… she had been quite persistent, but honestly, it was a mere accident due to her behavior at the pub.

Indeed, it’s none of her concern what he does, and he correctly informs her of this. Consequently, she decides to visit his van to offer an apology. Amazingly, the door is ajar.

Victoria soon finds the dog tag with the mysterious name, and that’s when John catches her. Although it’s Vic who’s in the wrong at that moment, is she suspicious of John?

She appears cautious, as if she’s either been given limited information or discovered things by chance. I believe she desires an opportunity for an open dialogue where I can put forth my questions, she responds honestly, and we can genuinely establish a connection.

I’m not sure where Vic might draw the line, but at some point, she could decide that the effort isn’t worth continuing with the surprise sibling relationship.

As a cinephile, I must admit that both Andy and Robert have made choices that leave much to ponder. However, they are family, and as their loyal audience member, I can relate to the unwavering support one has for their kin. In light of this, if John finds himself in a similar predicament, I believe our protagonist would offer him the same steadfast loyalty and understanding.

According to Hodgins, if John is indeed hiding something significant from Vic, it appears she would remain supportive of him. He expressed, “I’m not sure about that. I believe she would try to understand and gather as much information as possible. But she places a strong emphasis on unconditional love.

The actress expressed her delight about Emmerdale expanding the Sugden family: “It’s been quite pleasant since I joined, as it initially had a large number of us and was often depicted like everyone sitting around the table for breakfast. Now, it feels even more engaging.

Over time, the count has decreased significantly. It’s heartening to attempt to revive the Sugden lineage and the ties with the Sugdens. Truthfully, I’ve found this process quite enjoyable.

On the potential for more Sugden reunions, Hodgins declared: “Oh, the more the merrier!”

Emmerdale airs Monday to Friday at 7:30pm on ITV1. Stream on ITVX.
