The clock is running out for Joe Tate, portrayed by Ned Porteous, in Emmerdale, as the number of people he has made enemies with continues to increase… and expand.
Beyond abducting and poisoning his own brother leading to the tragic car accident, he has additionally committed crimes such as stealing a kidney, threatening a child, among numerous other transgressions.
So it’s safe to say that almost everyone in the village could have a motive for getting rid of him.
So far, it appears that Joe will be pushed out of a window at Home Farm during Lydia’s birthday celebration. However, the identity of the perpetrator remains a secret, keeping viewers guessing and creating an air of intrigue.
There’s uncertainty about whether Joe will make it through the fall, yet the one who perpetrated the crime might wish him dead, for nobody is more potentially harmful when seeking revenge than Joe.
In a manner similar to how Joe’s actions caused everything around him to collapse following his fall from the window, his entire life seems destined to unravel in the events leading up to that moment.
What’s his biggest fear as he’s heading into the party?
In essence, there are some aspects in life that money or power cannot purchase, and one such example is people’s affection. The bonds of family and love are priceless and intangible. So, if someone believes they are acquiring something like that, if they have someone’s love and they love another person in return, they will be extremely careful to guard it, as Porteous put it.
It seems likely that the notion of falling in love and exposing himself vulnerably might be extremely frightening for him, as it’s a situation where he can’t control or navigate like he does when he’s in command, and this is what scares him the most – relinquishing control.
Will Joe lose everything? Viewers will have to wait and see…
