Emmerdale’s Lesley Dunlop on Heath’s devastating exit: ‘There was no acting required’

As a long-time viewer of Emmerdale and a parent myself, I can’t help but feel deeply saddened by the departure of Heath Hope from the show. The emotional scene where Gabby Thomas (Sophie Powell) visited her son’s grave was particularly hard to watch, and I found myself tearing up as I imagined the pain she must be feeling.


Over New Year’s, Heath Hope, portrayed by Sebastian Dowling, bid farewell to Emmerdale after being involved in a severe car accident.

You wouldn’t want to take your children to such a place. In fact, it’s a destination that people generally try to avoid. Moreover, I’ve known Gabby and Sebastian since they were young, and the thought of them being there makes me feel uneasy. It was truly an unpleasant experience.
