Emmys Hosts Dan Levy & Eugene Levy Beg You To Say Last Name Correctly

As a seasoned critic with a penchant for observing the intricacies of acting performances, I must say that this year’s Emmys have been quite a spectacle! The diverse range of talent showcased is truly a testament to the evolving landscape of television and film.

Dan Levy and Eugene Levy are finally setting some records straight.

The team of father and son assumed the role of hosts at the 2024 Emmy Awards, held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on September 15. As they welcomed guests to television’s grandest event—with Dan playfully referring to it as “the biggest night for broadcast TV, but also the night for honoring movie stars from streaming services”—the former cast members of Schitt’s Creek took a brief pause to discuss their shared surname.

Eugene, who was 77 years old, made sure to clarify to the gathering that he and his son aren’t professional stand-up comedians. Instead, Dan, aged 41, added humorously, saying they are more like actors pretending to be hosts.

He went on to say, “It’s quite a risky move for us, but if things turn out favorably tonight, my name should be pronounced as ‘Lev-ee’, not ‘Lee-vee’.

In a joking manner, Eugene playfully mentioned, “Should things turn bad, remember I’m known as Martin Short.

Furthermore, these two award-winning actors, each with an Emmy win from their work on Schitt’s Creek, also offered advice to upcoming winners: “Keep your acceptance speeches concise and heartfelt.

In an ironic twist, Dan jokingly remarked, “Two Canadians are tasked with ending your performance this evening.

Eugene added, “Canadians don’t like interrupting anybody, it goes against our nature.”

Instead of any potentially confrontational situation, Dan is wishing it doesn’t arise, given how unsettling it could be for his elderly father who is 77 years old.

Dan implored, “This man appears stronger than he truly is; he occasionally experiences heart palpitations and I’ve learned he might have tendonitis. While I don’t want to exaggerate, it’s crucial to note that any interruption could potentially be fatal for him.

And fingers crossed, the winners tonight adhere to the duo’s pleadings.
