En Vogue’s Dawn Robinson Reveals Shocking Secret: Living in Her Car for 3 Years!

Dawn Robinson is freeing her mind to the conventional idea of a home.

The former member of En Vogue, who started the famous girl group with Terry Ellis, Cindy Herron, and Maxine Jones in the late ’80s, recently provided a seldom glimpse into her personal life, disclosing that she’s been residing in her car for the past three years.

In her March 11 YouTube video, Dawn opened by explaining that she had always planned to discuss this topic, acknowledging the advice from several individuals in her life not to disclose details about her living situation because of her celebrity status. She emphasized, “It’s genuine and it’s acceptable.

In a heartfelt tone, she expressed that it’s inherent to our humanity to be exposed and susceptible. For approximately the last three years, she has been making her home on the roads, residing within her vehicle.

The 58-year-old continued with a laugh, “I said it! Oh my god, it’s out!”

At that point, Dawn elaborated on the start of her adventure which commenced in the year 2020. This was triggered by her choice to leave the family home in Las Vegas, due to certain frictions that arose between her and her mother.

She described the experience as marvelous until it turned sour, explaining that she adores her mother, yet found herself subject to her frequent fits of rage, much of which she directed towards herself.

Back in 1997, Dawn departed from En Vogue, but rejoined the group in 2002 only to leave again in 2008. She later shared that she had been residing in her car for roughly a month straight in Las Vegas. However, during this tough period, her manager at the time generously invited her to stay with him in his Los Angeles apartment.

Consequently, the location became overly congested with them and their pets, therefore, Dawn opted to stay at a hotel temporarily as she searched for a long-term residence in the Los Angeles area.

As she put it, “That one night turned into eight months.”

In the end, Dawn mentioned that she began exploring options such as “living in vans, cars, or recreational vehicles” after being unable to find a suitable place to live.

“I loved what I was seeing,” she continued. “I just thought, ‘I could do that.'”

In March of 2022, Dawn shared that she vacated the hotel and spent her first night in Malibu, California. At first, she found it daunting to sleep in her car, but soon adapted to her new surroundings. This included adding insulation and tinting her windows for better comfort.

“It just felt like the right thing to do,” she shared of her decision. “I didn’t regret it.”

In fact, Dawn feels “proud” to be living in her car.

She expressed that it’s a thrilling journey, adding, “I’m deeply immersed in it at the moment, and there’s absolutely nothing I’d give up to relinquish these moments and challenges I’ve encountered along the way.

Dawn stated, “I strive to motivate and make it clear that there’s nothing you can’t achieve, even when the circumstances seem unfavorable.

The Backstreet Boys, a popular band, made their debut in 1996, and their album “Millennium”, released in 1999, significantly shaped the music landscape at the turn of the century. Luckily for fans, the original members – Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, AJ McLean, Brian Littrell, and Kevin Richardson – are still performing live and singing our beloved songs more than two decades after their first release.

Cheers to the girl group that brought us Beyoncé! There’s no need to be “Bug a Boo” about Destiny’s Child, because Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams are still highly respected figures in today’s music scene too.

The legendary boy band, ‘NSYNC, consisted of Justin Timberlake, Joey Fatone, Lance Bass, JC Chasez, and Chris Kirkpatrick. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for another reunion concert, and we guarantee it won’t be a puppet show because we’re not ready to bid adieu with “Bye Bye Bye” just yet.

Back in the ’90s, I was absolutely smitten by this fabulous five-piece sensation from across the pond – the Spice Girls! They ruled the U.K. with their unforgettable style and tunes that stuck in your head like glitter on a microphone. Mel C, Victoria Beckham, Mel B, Geri Halliwell, and the ever-charming Emma Bunton were the dream team of girl groups for fans like me. And oh boy, did they have a crowd! If you wanted to be part of their inner circle, you had to keep up with their friends – and there was no shortage of those!

Back in the day, the Hanson brothers made a name for themselves alongside other popular ’90s boy bands with their hit song “MMMBop.” Later, Isaac Hanson, Taylor Hanson, and Zac Hanson collaborated on an album together in 2013 before branching out into individual careers. Taylor even embarked on a journey as a father to seven children! Fortunately, they reunited again in 2018 for the album “String Theory” and have been touring together until 2022.

Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozanda “Chilli” Thomas continue to form the ’90s hip hop group TLC, even after the untimely death of original member Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes in 2002. Lil Mama joined them on stage in 2013, and in 2017, they announced plans for a new album.

Ever since 2017, I’ve been utterly captivated by BTS, the extraordinary Korean boy band. This dynamic group not only pens, produces but also performs the majority of their songs as global sensations. Their devout fan base, affectionately known as the Army, is nothing short of legendary in the annals of music fandom.

Absolutely, you’re correct that Nick Lachey was part of a boy band, which was known as 98 Degrees. Just mentioning that name brings back some hot memories! The group consisted of Nick Lachey, his brother Drew Lachey, and Justin Jeffre. Interestingly, Nick Lachey and another member, Jeff Timmons, left college to focus on their music careers in the ’90s and formed the band together.

The band known as “New Kids on the Block” achieved massive popularity in the late ’80s, and they reassembled in 2011 for a nostalgic tour alongside “The Backstreet Boys”.

The original members of New Kids on the Block were brothers Jordan Knight and Jonathan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg, and Danny Wood. After disbanding in 1994, they eventually reunited and hit the road with the Backstreet Boys in 2011, an event that caused quite a stir online. Unsurprisingly, the tour announcement was a massive sensation on the Internet. They continue to perform together today.

I’m thrilled beyond words to announce that the Jonas Brothers have made a comeback! With Nick Jonas’ captivating smile, Joe Jonas’ charismatic strut, and Kevin Jonas’ big brother charm, they’ve always had a special place in my heart. Not only are they visually appealing, but their musical talents are unparalleled as well – they can both sing and play instruments! It’s no wonder I’m still swooning over them since their band debuted back in 2006. Their return is truly a blessing!

One of the exceptional bands to emerge from a popular singing competition show, One Direction, dominated globally during the 2010s. This boy band has spawned numerous successful solo ventures, with Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, and Harry Styles all carving out their respective niches in music (and fashion and film) lore.

The group formed by “The X Factor” embodies the essence of modern pop royalty, addressing topics such as body positivity, feminism, the challenges posed by social media, and the balancing act of being a young mother.

The band known as BLACKPINK, consisting of Lisa, Rosé, Jennie, and Jisoo, debuted their first album titled “THE ALBUM” in October 2020. On Jimmy Kimmel Live, Rosé stated that they chose ‘Black Pink’ as it reflects their dual nature – being girly yet savage. They have a song named ‘Pretty Savage’, which fits well with the term and best describes their identity.

Prior to the shift towards “Work From Home” lifestyle brought about by the coronavirus pandemic, Fifth Harmony provided fans with an energetic (and sensual) theme song to help alleviate any WFH difficulties. Following the group’s hiatus in 2018, breakout singer Camila Cabello continued to flourish, achieving success in her solo career and even portraying Cinderella on stage! Other members of Fifth Harmony have also pursued individual projects.

5 Seconds of Summer, a rock band hailing from Australia, initially gained popularity through YouTube videos. Their songs “She Looks So Perfect” and “Girls Talk Boys” eventually received airplay on radio stations. Following this success, 5SOS went on tour as an opening act for One Direction, which further propelled their career. And so, their story continues to be written in the annals of music history.

For more than three decades, the trio consisting of Nathan Morris, Shawn Stockman, and Wanya Morris (from Boyz II Men) have been dominating the music scene with popular songs such as “I’ll Make Love to You” and “One Sweet Day. They continue to captivate audiences with their performances.

In an alternate style, let me rephrase that for you: The British band, The Wanted, who could be considered the rougher counterpart to One Direction, gained significant popularity in the U.S. with their hit single “Glad You Came” from 2012. Later, they starred in their own reality TV series called “The Wanted Life.” After a break in 2014, they hinted at returning soon.

2016 saw the creation of the band CNCO, comprising members Joel Pimentel, Richard Camacho, Erick Brian Colón, Christopher Vélez, and Zabdiel De Jesús. However, on May 14, they performed together for the last time as a quintet, following Pimentel’s announcement that he was leaving the group.

For five years, Big Time Rush made a big impact on Nickelodeon and even national tours before they decided to go their separate ways in 2014. Luckily for fans, all four members – Kendall Schmidt, Logan Henderson, Carlos PenaVega, and James Maslow – are reuniting for two new shows coming up in December 2021.

Back in 2002, the British pop band known as Girls Aloud became one of the pioneers among groups originating from a reality TV competition. The show was called “Popstars: The Rivals” and the talented singers who made up this dynamic group were Sarah Harding, Cheryl (who was then known as Cheryl Cole), Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts, and Kimberley Walsh. Over the course of their career, Girls Aloud recorded an impressive 20 top 10 singles and four number ones, with hits like “Sound of the Underground” leading the way during their successful run.
