Endless Dungeon Developer Amplitude Studios Splits From Sega

As a longtime fan of Amplitude Studios, I find this news both exciting and reassuring. Having followed their journey since their inception, it’s heartening to see them regain their independence after eight years under Sega’s wing. Their commitment to strategy game development and the two titles currently in progress fill me with anticipation for what’s to come.

After spending eight years under Sega’s ownership, Amplitude Studios has declared its independence again. A post on Steam confirmed that some of the original founders and employees now own the studio. Although it is no longer part of Sega, they are parting ways amicably and wish the publisher success in all their future endeavors.

According to its founder, Romain de Waubert de Genlis, the studio boasts robust and impactful franchises that it stands behind. The team is dedicated to producing top-tier games, leveraging their extensive background in strategy game development and working on two thrilling projects at present. This gives them confidence in their capacity to provide players with exceptional gaming experiences.

Making this choice enables us to adapt swiftly in our strategies, yet remaining committed to the initial concept we’ve held dear. It empowers us to test limits and bridge the gap with our community more effectively.

Moving forward, the studio’s strategy game titled “Humankind” is due for a new update, with additional information to be shared next week. Furthermore, they will share insights about their future plans at their annual Amplified event in January 2025. It remains to be seen if there are any announcements regarding the “Endless” franchise beyond regular updates for “Endless Dungeon”.

Earlier this year, a scenario reminiscent of the current one unfolded when Relic Entertainment, developers of “Company of Heroes” and “Warhammer: Dawn of War”, separated from Sega. This decision resulted in job losses. Additionally, the shelving of Creative Assembly’s project “HYENAS” and this split are all part of a strategic reorganization of their European studios. It remains to be observed if Amplitude will undergo significant changes following its independence, so keep an eye out for updates.
