As a dedicated follower of entertainment news, I have seen my fair share of scandals and controversies, but this one hits close to home for me. Brian Jordan Alvarez, a talented creator and actor whose work I have admired, is currently embroiled in serious allegations of sexual assault by his former costar Jon Ebeling.
Brian Jordan Alvarez is speaking out on recent allegations.
The creator and lead actor of “The English Teacher” has been alleged to have sexually assaulted his co-star Jon Ebeling during the filming of the 2016 web series, as stated in Ebeling’s police report which was obtained by TopMob News on December 17.
In a published article by New York Magazine’s Vulture on December 17th, Ebeling claimed that Alvarez, who is 37 years old, made him feel pressured or forced into two instances of sexual encounters during their friendship. One incident occurred at Ebeling’s apartment, and the other took place on the set of their shared series, where Alvarez was both the writer, director, and star.
On the contrary, Alvarez’s team strongly refuted the allegation, stressing that their interactions were “always unequivocally consensual, as multiple witnesses can vouch for.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d rephrase it like this: “Two years following the alleged event in 2016, Mr. Ebeling himself clearly admitted to the truth on tape, as confirmed by our team and shared with TopMob News. For several months, he’s been spreading unfounded stories, but when faced with solid evidence of his deception from third parties, numerous media outlets chose not to publish his baseless assertions.
His reps also slammed New York Magazine, which Vulture is part of, for publishing the allegations.
The statement lamented that “New York Magazine” seemed to lack discernment, as they rashly chased after publishing a sensational, eye-catching piece, regardless of its accuracy.
The statement further expresses dismay, pointing out that such a situation raises serious questions about New York Magazine’s ethical standards. Anyone contemplating the republishing of Mr. Ebeling’s statements should be mindful of the potential consequences. Brian is seeking legal counsel to determine his future course of action.
TopMob News contacted representatives from both Koenig and New York Magazine, but we haven’t received a response yet. Similarly, we’ve made inquiries about the case’s current status with the LAPD, but have yet to receive any new information.
Ebeling, who was dating Stephanie Koenig, Alvarez’s best friend and current co-star, claimed that a sexual encounter took place between them at his apartment in October 2015. He stated that he felt intense pressure to engage in this act while they were spending time together.
36-year-old Ebeling claimed that Alvarez propositioned a sexual encounter, expressing his desire to compare their body parts and sniff him. Ebeling asserted that he had declined Alvarez’s advances numerous times before eventually agreeing to perform oral sex on him.
He shared with Vulture that it seemed like this was the action required to maintain harmony, continue his relationship with Steph, and remain part of the show.
Later, Ebeling informed the police that he had performed the action under duress and considers himself heterosexual, as stated in the September 2024 police report.
According to Ebeling, a later experience served as the basis for the third episode of the series “Caleb Gallo.” In this installment, his character and Alvarez’s characters get intimate, which they later share with Koenig’s character. The alleged incident occurred during the filming of a love scene for the show in January 2016, when Ebeling claimed that Alvarez, known for his role in “Will & Grace,” went under the blanket on set and started performing oral sex without consent.
Ebeling stated, “It appears nobody around the filming location understands what’s happening under the blanket, and I’m at a loss. I was unsure how to react because my director was abusing me on set, which was an incredibly distressing experience.
In a later experience, Ebeling found inspiration for the third episode of ‘Caleb Gallo’, where his character and Alvarez’s characters share a romantic moment, which they later discuss with Koenig’s character. The alleged incident occurred during filming of a love scene in January 2016, when Ebeling claimed Alvarez, known for his role on ‘Will & Grace’, went under the blanket and performed oral sex without consent.
Ebeling stated, “It seemed no one around me understood the situation hidden under the blankets, and I was at a loss. I was on set with my director who was physically hurting me, which was absolutely dreadful.
According to a statement from Alvarez’s representative, it was made clear to Ebeling that he had given his verbal agreement prior to the incident. This prompted Ebeling to tell Vulture magazine that Alvarez should provide proof of this consent, and furthermore, Ebeling stated emphatically, “There is no chance in the world that I would have ever consented to such a thing.
Ebeling told TopMob News he’s always maintained that the incident on set was assault.
Although Ebeling said he was devastated by the alleged assault, he tried to move past it.
He shared with Vulture that his involvement in Brian’s projects was essentially the one creative endeavor I had going. He admitted that anxiety about potentially losing his entire circle of contacts ultimately prevailed.
Ebeling commented on TopMob News, stating that he finds it intriguing that Alvarez is now prepared to discuss the matter, since until now he had only communicated via his legal representatives.
