EPCOT Ceiling Collapses Over Soarin’ Queue After Recent Sewage Leak

It appears that EPCOT’s Land Pavilion is facing yet another problem. Shortly after a sewage leak led to the temporary shutdown of Soarin’ Around the World and water damage within the pavilion, another incident has occurred – this time, a part of the ceiling in the queue for Soarin’ has given way, falling over a walkway used by guests.

right after the incident, where you can see a dazed actor looking at the damage, is shown in the video player provided.

This concerning evolution has sparked doubts among many about the general upkeep and security of the building.

Ceiling Collapse in EPCOT Soarin’ Queue

At the moment, repairs are being carried out on a part of the ceiling that fell over a popular guest walkway. The affected area is around 2-3 feet wide and about 15-20 feet long. Thankfully, there have been no reported injuries. Despite the damage, both the FastPass lane and regular queue continue to function normally, with no changes in the ride experience for now.

The images suggest that parts of the ceiling have collapsed onto the line of people waiting below, and are hanging precariously overhead, fueling worries about the structural soundness of the pavilion. The person who posted this TikTok video asserts that the debris came very close to hitting several visitors and staff members.

The incident happened at the beginning of the line, slightly past the “All Terminals” marker in the airport-styled holding zone.

What’s Causing These Issues?

Currently, Disney hasn’t offered any insight into why the ceiling collapsed, leaving the cause uncertain. But given the incident happened near a recent sewage leak, it prompts significant concerns about the state of The Land Pavilion.

As a movie buff, I’d say it like this: Every collapsing structure has a backstory – it could be the relentless passage of time, wear and tear from neglect, or hidden water damage that finally pushes it over the edge.

In the past few months, issues such as leaks, pipe failures, and ceiling damage have been reported in several parts of EPCOT. Given that a section of the ceiling in a busy guest area could collapse, it raises concerns about potential hidden problems within the walls of The Land Pavilion.

A Recap of the EPCOT Sewage Leak

To clarify, we’ll take a look back at the significant problem that occurred recently at The Land Pavilion: the sewage leak that happened earlier this month. This incident caused water to gush from the ceiling close to the entrance of Soarin’ Around the World, submerging the visitor walkways between the ride’s entry and exit. Witness accounts indicated that the water was potentially polluted, with staff members taking immediate action to manage the situation.

The Soarin’ attraction and all restroom facilities in The Land pavilion are temporarily shut because of a sewage problem originating from the upper-level restrooms on the second floor, which has spread to the lower level.

A real crappy situation.

The attraction was momentarily shut down for dealing with an unspecified problem, and Disney has remained silent about the specifics regarding the source or reason behind the leak.

At that moment, people saw the sewage leak as an unlucky and individual incident. But with another structural collapse happening almost in the same spot, it’s becoming more difficult to dismiss the idea of underlying maintenance problems. Could these two incidents be connected, given their close proximity?

What’s Next for The Land Pavilion?

Despite Disney’s team currently addressing the ceiling issue, it underscores another unfortunate incident at a park renowned for its impeccable upkeep. Visitors expect a premium experience from Disney, but over the past year, they’ve encountered numerous infrastructure troubles, and now, there’s a falling ceiling within an attraction line.

Should Disney not handle these matters openly and promptly, they could potentially lose their guests’ trust. The Land Pavilion houses popular rides such as Soarin’ Around the World and Living with the Land, but if these maintenance issues persist, Disney might encounter troubles beyond simple ride malfunctions.

Currently, visitors can still experience Soarin’ Around the World as repair work is ongoing. However, many are hoping that EPCOT’s current issues with maintenance won’t set a pattern for long-term concerns.
