Ever since Super Nintendo World debuted at Universal Parks, fans of The Legend of Zelda have eagerly anticipated the realization of Hyrule within our world too. There’s been plenty of chatter about a potential Zelda-themed area, with initial guesses pointing towards Islands of Adventure. However, recent indications hint that Universal might be planning something far grander for Epic Universe – potentially shining an even brighter spotlight on Zelda there.
The Lost Continent Rumors
Initially, there were rumors that the area known as the Lost Continent in Islands of Adventure might undergo a transformation, with “The Legend of Zelda” potentially taking its place. This section of the park has been relatively untouched for quite some time. The speculation hinted at construction possibly starting by 2024, and an anticipated opening as late as 2027. Given that Poseidon’s Fury closed and the Lost Continent no longer houses a main attraction, it appeared as if Universal was considering updating this area with a Zelda theme.

On the other hand, it seems like the initial plans could be different now. Although Universal hasn’t explicitly announced a Zelda project, recent hints indicate that if Hyrule is indeed part of their resort, it might not be in Islands of Adventure but somewhere else instead.
Signs of Zelda in Epic Universe
The expansive Universal’s Epic Universe, slated to debut in May 2025, will encompass multiple themed areas, one of which will be an expansion of Super Nintendo World. As per Attraction Magazine, recent hints indicate that The Legend of Zelda could potentially be the initial significant expansion following the park’s grand opening.

Some of the biggest hints include:
-
At Epic Universe’s parking lot, each area has a distinctive medallion design reflecting its name. For instance, the “Monster” zone showcases a hand that looks like it was reanimated, reminiscent of Frankenstein’s Monster. Notably, the “Hero” section is said to exhibit an emblem of a sword and shield, strikingly similar to the Master Sword and Hylian Shield from The Legend of Zelda.
-
Outside Super Nintendo World lies a store with stained-glass panels showcasing beloved Nintendo figures. Characters like Link, Princess Zelda, and Ganon are among them, even though Zelda items aren’t available for purchase inside the shop at the moment.
-
Within the same store, there are three intricate floor mosaics that pay tribute to Nintendo’s most iconic series: Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong Country, and The Legend of Zelda. Particularly, the Zelda mosaic showcases the land of Hyrule, underscoring the significance of this franchise within the amusement park.
It’s evident from Universal Orlando Resort President Karen Irwin’s statement, “We’re already planning for the next thing at Epic,” that new developments might be underway. Although no official announcements have been made, these hints strongly imply that a possible addition could be the fictional land of Hyrule.

Two spacious construction sites have been established on both sides of Epic Universe, providing ample space for the creation and realization of a full-fledged Zelda experience within Epic Universe.
Waiting on Official Word
With Epic Universe progressing, it’s not hard to imagine a Zelda-inspired extension could be plausible. Clues, ranging from the obvious to the cryptic, hint that Hyrule could materialize in ways we’ve only imagined before.

If the rumors hold up, it seems that fans of Universal Orlando might be treated to an unforgettable, action-packed experience.
