However, it remains unclear if she maintains close ties with her extensive family circle.
She shared with Andy Cohen during their conversation on “Watch What Happens Live”‘s September 30th episode that Gigi had directly messaged her the previous night, mentioning that she was about to start watching the show.
However, regarding Gigi’s mother Yolanda (previously married to David for about nine years and announced their divorce in 2016), Erin shared that their connection isn’t as close as it once was.
She said that she doesn’t communicate as frequently with them as their children do, since their parents got divorced.
Initially, Erin and her sister Sara Foster harbored deep resentment as they observed their father caring for Brody and his brother Brandon Jenner (children of Caitlin Jenner and Linda) while he was married to their own mother. Despite their current closeness, this was a source of tension in the past.
In a 2019 episode of their Sibling Revelry podcast, Sara, aged 43, explained, “Our dad wasn’t raising us; he was caring for Brandon and Brody instead. This was the source of my emotional distress, watching my father nurture other children. It was a struggle that kept me awake at night.
Erin, who is Rebecca Dyer’s child, added her thoughts. Since our parents divorced, we didn’t reside with our father. Instead, from the ages of 3 to 5, my sister and I lived with our mom, while our dad stayed in a house worth $20 million, sharing it with Brandon and Brody.
She explained further, “I didn’t feel anger towards them, rather, I felt that they don’t truly understand us. We’re often misconstrued as living a false, privileged life, but in reality, we’re seldom able to enjoy it.
Indeed, Erin, aged 42, shared that she experienced some unexpected challenges at the start of her marriage to Simon Tikhman, whom she wed in 2019.
In the early stages of our relationship, it became clear to me that there was a significant difference in how we were raised, as he emphasized that one should always honor their parents. However, for me, honoring my parents was something I fiercely rebelled against in order to survive.
Now that she’s grown up, the dynamic between her and her parents has evolved, and she now shares a loving connection with her stepmother, Katharine McPhee.
She confessed to Andy during the Bravo talk show that it’s really wonderful having a stepmother who is around the same age as she is. It’s such a blast because we share similar interests. It feels more like having an older sister than a stepmother, and we get along so well, it’s like having friends. Overall, it’s a pleasant experience.
