On June 1st, there’s an array of LEGO sets being released, but among them, the one that promises the most fun is arguably the LEGO Ideas Minifigure Vending Machine (21358). This set includes 1,343 pieces to help you build a vintage-style vending machine reminiscent of those found in arcades or supermarkets. However, unlike its real-life counterpart, this brick-built vending machine always dispenses something exciting!
With the provided Lego coin and a simple turn of the knob, you’ll experience a gratifying click, followed by the dispenser releasing one out of sixteen capsules filled with parts to construct a minifigure. The themes of these minifigures draw from nostalgic sets like Castle, Paradisa, Fabuland, and Classic Space explorers (four figures were chosen based on a poll among Lego Ideas fans). Additionally, you’ll find a minifigure of Rob Vangansewinkel, the creative Lego Ideas fan who designed this remarkable set. Achieving immortality in miniature form.
If you’re keen on acquiring the LEGO Ideas Minifigure Vending Machine set, which is simply fantastic, you’ll need a free LEGO Insiders membership as these sets will only be accessible to members from May 31st (9pm PT / 12am ET) to June 1st. From there until June 5th, Insiders might enjoy exclusive free gifts with purchase and other promotions at the LEGO Shop. The general public can place their orders starting at 12am ET on June 6th.
As a child, I was captivated by a real-life vending machine at home, sparking an idea that eventually led to crafting a functional LEGO brick variant dispensing minifigures. The concept seemed almost serendipitous, so I began developing a digital model and shared it on LEGO Ideas. However, I harbored doubts about the feasibility of the dispensing mechanism, which prompted me to spend approximately two months tinkering with and perfecting the design using actual LEGO bricks. I even dismantled my old vending machine for a better understanding of its mechanics and to adapt them for this project. Needless to say, I am immensely proud of the end result.
Check out the “Coming Soon” section on the LEGO website to discover numerous upcoming LEGO releases. Once they’re launched, you’ll find them in the “Available Now” section. Some of these new items will also be accessible on Amazon, but it’s often beneficial to go directly to LEGO for exclusive Insider deals. You can easily create a free LEGO Insiders account right here.
