For the second season of their humorous television program, Alex Horne and his musical group, The Horne Section, are returning. This time, Alex is eager to demonstrate to the audience that he’s not just a jester, but a serious musician as well.
All of which is thrown out the window when Reggie Watts makes an appearance.
If you’re a dedicated fan of Taskmaster, get ready for a delightful addition! Reggie Watts is joining The Horn Section TV Show, and this might be exciting news since he served as the US counterpart to Taskmaster, working alongside Horne on the American adaptation of Channel 4’s hit series in 2018.
In the world of The Horne Section, there is indeed a character known as Taskmaster. However, given that we’ve already made a specific reference in the past, it might create unnecessary confusion to make another niche reference at this time, as suggested by the show’s star, Alex Horne.
Discussing Watts’ appearance in the new season, Horne stated: “I’ve always been fond of him, even before our work on Taskmaster US and beyond. He came over to perform on The Horne Section TV Show, but we didn’t get to keep him for long; we had to quickly take advantage of his visit.
For quite some time, the situation was precarious. It was challenging to predict the actions of many Americans due to their numerous representatives. However, everything turned out wonderfully in the end.

Tonight, Channel 4 begins its fresh season full of challenges for Horne. He grapples with unexpected cancellations during live broadcasts, introduces the unprecedented World’s Strongest Musician contest, tackles demanding corporate awards, and deals with a TV studio rumored to be haunted. Yet, on-screen, Horne remains resolute, asserting that the show should carry on as planned.
Horne stated, “There aren’t significant changes in season 2. We’re still creating a TV show within my home, so it continues to be a series about making a TV show. The primary distinction is from a production standpoint; we have more comedians this time around and fewer celebrities.”
As a devoted fan, I find myself immersed in the opening episode of the new series, and it’s evident that Gareth Malone is still very much part of it. However, what stands out most to me is the broader spectrum of comedic talent this time around. The comedy community has grown and expanded, making the show even more engaging and diverse.
Noteworthy update: Reggie Watts is now part of the band. The central development here is that I’m being phased out slowly, but this isn’t causing much of a conflict or dramatic tension in the storyline.
We can only hope the ship stays afloat!
The Horne Section TV Show season 2 begins on Thursday 22nd May at 10pm on Channel 4.
