The action taken by Harry to assassinate Freddie Shaw, Richie Stevenson’s underling, in the latest episode of “MobLand” was somewhat surprising considering the powerful evidence he possessed against him. In the eighth installment of “MobLand,” the narrative took a significant turn, with various subplots advancing and fresh enigmas surfacing, such as the shocking disclosure that another Harrigan brother might exist. Although the true identity of Kat McAllister, played by Janet McTeer, remains a mystery, Harry’s clandestine encounter with Freddie provided some advancement in the ongoing tension within the Harrigan criminal organization.
Even though Vron Stevenson has passed away, Harry possesses photos of Vron and Freddie, which he can hand over to Richie whenever needed. This allows him to extract information from Freddie, despite the henchman’s claim that he was no longer involved in Richie’s criminal operation. After Harry managed to coax information out of Freddie by subtly misleading him about Maeve now leading the Harrigan crime family, Freddie disclosed that one of the Harrigans had been secretly collaborating with Richie. The mole’s identity was not shown on screen, but it led to Freddie’s sudden and surprising demise.
Harry Killed Freddie To Protect Himself
Freddie Became Nothing More Than A Liability
Once Freddie disclosed his awareness of a rat within the Harrigan clan, he essentially sealed his own fate as a danger to Harry. From then on, he served as nothing but a potential threat due to his knowledge. Although it was convenient to have such insightful company in Richie’s circle, Harry realized that Freddie had learned too much by that time. He could betray either Richie or the Harrigans at any moment, thereby implicating Harry for being aware of the rat without warning Conrad.

In my opinion as a movie reviewer, Freddie surprisingly spilled secrets like they were common knowledge, even with the pressure from Harry and the ominous presence of Richie. It was puzzling that Harry would let him go back to the Stevensons considering the valuable asset he could’ve kept for intel. However, once Freddie revealed details about Richie’s fentanyl operation, it became evident that he posed more danger than benefit to Harry’s plans.
Freddie’s Reveal Before His Death Is Now One Of MobLand’s Big Questions
One Of The Harrigans Has Been Working With Richie All Along
In Harry’s last meeting with Freddie, the disclosure that one of the Harrigans was colluding with Richie was undeniably the most crucial revelation. This discovery has now become the central enigma in the world of MobLand: who is the mole in Conrad’s operation? Given Conrad’s decades of depravity, there are numerous characters who might have a motive to bring him down, particularly those within his own family such as Maeve, Bella, Jan, and even Kevin.
In light of Freddie’s disclosure, it appears we can eliminate at least some suspects from our list. The rat cannot be Harry because revealing this information to him would undermine his control over Freddie, and there would be no reason for Harry to learn what Freddie was trying to discover. Also, if Kevin were the mole, Freddie’s reaction might have been more direct considering that he claimed the Harrigans’ operations were being taken over by Kevin.
At present, it appears that Maeve is the prime suspect, given her past actions. We know she’s not hesitant to harm Conrad for Richie’s sake, as demonstrated by her willingness to jeopardize her own son’s life to put an end to Seraphina. Conrad’s long history of infidelity might provoke a proud woman like Maeve to commit the gravest act of betrayal. It’s also worth noting that Maeve often thinks she is the most intelligent person in any given situation and believes she could manage things more effectively than Conrad. The finale of MobLand season 1 will likely shed light on this, but for now, Maeve appears to be the potential traitor within the Harrigan family.
