Kid Cudi is detailing his connection to Sean “Diddy” Combs.
On May 22, rapper “The Pursuit of Happiness” (whose real name is Scott Mescudi) testified in the federal sex trafficking trial of Bad Boy Records founder. During his testimony, he spoke about his interactions with the music mogul during a brief relationship with Cassie Ventura.
During his court appearance, Mescudi, who was in a romantic relationship with the singer of “Me & U” from 2011 to 2012 (during her tumultuous, off-and-on romance with Combs that spanned a decade), offered his account of an event where his car mysteriously caught fire and exploded in his driveway.
According to NBC News, it was reported that in February 2012, Mescudi was informed by his dog’s babysitter that his car was on fire while he wasn’t home. The prosecution displayed pictures of Mescudi’s Porsche, which NBC News described as having a Molotov cocktail inside it.
Eventually, Mescudi, aged 41, stated that his car exploded in his driveway at home in early 2012, coincidentally around the same period when he parted ways with Ventura.
Although the ruling judge agreed with the defense’s challenge on Mescudi’s assertion that Combs was part of the automobile accident, as reported by NBC News, during her testimony, Ventura declared that Combs had stated, “Scott’s car will be destroyed.
In the ongoing trial, it’s not the first instance that allegations against Sean Combs regarding perceived threats have surfaced. He denies the accusations, maintaining his innocence on charges including racketeering, sex trafficking under duress, fraud or coercion, and facilitating prostitution.
Previously this month, Ventura provided insights into the 55-year-old’s questionable actions following the revelation of her dating Mescudi. In her court testimony on May 14, the singer of “Long Way 2 Go” claimed that Combs reacted with anger upon learning about her relationship with Mescudi and resorted to physical violence.
According to Ventura’s testimony, as reported by various news sources who were present in the courtroom, he recalled the individual inserting a wine opener into his hands and then advancing towards him.
In simple terms, the 38-year-old woman shared her reasons behind breaking up with Mescudi, a relationship that started following their collaboration on music projects.
During her testimony, Ventura expressed that there was far too much doubt about continuing our interactions. Sean stated his intention of causing harm to both of us.
She and Combs eventually split in 2018.
For more revelations from Combs’ trial, keep reading.
In 2012, Scott Mescudi, better known as Kid Cudi, remembered a chat he had with Sean “Diddy” Combs not too long after his car had burnt. The musician who is famous for his song “Day ‘n’ Night”, claimed that Combs and his companions had also broken into his house in December 2011, following the news of his short-lived relationship with Cassie Ventura, who was previously linked to Diddy’s record label Bad Boy Records.
Following the arson of Mescudi’s vehicle in January 2012, an incident he attributed to Combs, he stated that they subsequently encountered each other in a hotel meeting room in Los Angeles. There, Combs was observed standing by the window with his hands clasped behind his back, resembling a classic Marvel super villain pose.
In his testimony, the 41-year-old explained, “I was alone with him in the room. We went over the entire account of how Cassie and I began dating and why it ended. He kept emphasizing that ‘You were with my girlfriend,’ to which I replied, ‘She had told me you two were split up, and I trusted her word on it.’
He remained composed and gave me water on two separate occasions, which I found unsettling given his calm demeanor. It was strange, I thought. Later, Cassie arrived. To my dismay, I learned she had returned to him. Essentially, she said that we fell in love, events transpired as they did.
In her five-day testimony earlier this month where she spoke about the alleged abuse inflicted by Combs, Ventura mentioned that she ended her relationship with Mescudi following Combs’ statement, “I will harm us both.
Following their discussion in the L.A. hotel conference room, prior to matters escalating, they rose from their seats and exchanged a firm handshake.
Mescudi recounted our close embrace when he asked, ‘So, what’s the plan with your vehicle?’ To which he responded, ‘I’m not sure what you mean.’ He then paused and questioned, ‘Are we okay?’ I replied, ‘Well, you torched my car.’
Mescudi shared insight into two incidents, which he blames Combs for, during his testimony.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d rephrase it like this: In December 2011, Diddy (Combs) allegedly intruded into the home of “Pursuit of Happiness” artist, following reports about his relationship with Ventura, who had an on-off romance with Combs from 2007 to 2018. I was privy to the musician’s account of this phone conversation.
In the courtroom, Mescudi stated, “He asked me, ‘What’s happening?’ I replied, ‘Hey there, is it alright if I ask if you’re in my residence?’ To which he responded, ‘Indeed, I’m here, waiting for you.’
While he said he wanted to “fight” Combs, he decided not to since he wasn’t sure who was with him.
In February, Mescudi’s car was set ablaze by a Molotov cocktail (found in the driver’s seat) when he was approximately 45 minutes from his house.
Previously, Ventura claimed in her since-resolved 2023 lawsuit against Combs that he threatened to explode Mescudi’s car upon discovering their relationship. The lawsuit stated, “At around this period, a car belonging to Kid Cudi blew up in his driveway.
On the seventh day of Diddy’s trial, wrapping up on May 20th, I, a devoted admirer, felt compelled to share a powerful sentiment that resonated within the courtroom. The legendary rapper addressed us all.
In a loud voice, he expressed his affection as the court session ended for the day, according to People, and then softly murmured, “Yes, I love you all.
In my latest discourse, I found myself addressing a lovely lady in the audience, subtly alluding to my son, Justin Combs, who turns 31. I expressed my thoughts to her, saying, “Kindly convey my warm regards to Justin.
Regina Ventura declared on the 20th of May that back in 2011, Diddy (Combs) allegedly threatened to disclose explicit videos involving his daughter Cassie Ventura, following her relationship with Mescudi.
Regina explained in court that she fell ill, not just emotionally but physically. She was utterly shocked by the sex tape, as it involved her daughter and was clearly an attempt to harm her. The perpetrator demanded $20,000 because her daughter had been seeing Scott Mescudi.
As a loyal adherent, I claim that my spouse and I resorted to securing a home equity loan as the sole means of procuring the required funds. That was our only feasible option at the time.
As for why Combs demanded the lump sum?
She informed the prosecutor that he was upset, as he’d expended money on her, but she had been involved with someone else.
During David James’ testimony, he disclosed details about Combs’ travel bag, mentioning approximately 25 to 30 bottle-like containers. Among these items, he stated, were some bottles bearing the likeness of former President Barack Obama.
According to court documents from NBC News, the ex-assistant testified that there were several pills available, but one stood out as having been modeled after a previous U.S. president – specifically, President Barack Obama.
James clarified that Combs additionally had approximately $10,000 in cash, pain relievers like Advil and Tylenol, Viagra for erectile dysfunction, and pills to boost sperm production, as well as Percocet and ecstasy, stored within his Louis Vuitton bag. He further asserted this claim.
During his testimony, James stated to the jury that one of the standard items found in Combs’ travel bag included a minimum of ten thousand dollars in cash, as well as pain relievers like Advil and Tylenol, erectile dysfunction medication such as Viagra, and pills designed to boost sperm production.
Additionally, James claimed that Combs was found with “Percodan and MDMA” in his possession, an assertion supported by his former assistant’s eyewitness account of Combs consuming these substances.
The prosecution provided a brief look at the rapper’s room at New York’s Park Hyatt hotel, where he was apprehended on September 16th.
The photographs, captured by Special Agent Yasin Binda from Homeland Security, depicting the evidence he presented, showed baby oil and Astroglide lubricant stored in Ziploc bags, five bottles of baby oil in a bathtub, two additional bottles of lubricant hidden in a drawer, two bags containing a powdery substance, and $9,000 in cash.
As per Binda’s report, substances identified as ketamine and a blend of ketamine and MDMA were detected in the two bags hidden within a prescription container, following testing.
A close friend of Ventura’s testified on May 19th, stating that she personally observed Combs physically abusing Ventura during their vacation in Jamaica, as well as at a rental property in the Hollywood Hills.
Kerry Morgan stated that her 17-year friendship with Ventura ended following an incident at his apartment in 2018, where Combs reportedly attacked her. As she was listening to music, according to NBC News, Combs allegedly approached from behind and choked her, leaving marks on her neck, and struck her on the head with a wooden hanger near her right ear. Cassie was in the bathroom at the time of the incident.
In the course of things, she engaged a legal representative (Morgan), yet chose not to initiate a court case. Instead, she consented to put her signature on a Non-Disclosure Agreement, receiving $30,000 as compensation.
Morgan declared, “I haven’t had a conversation with Sean since the incident, and the last time I interacted with Cassie was when I put my signature on the Non-Disclosure Agreement.
Additionally, Morgan testified under oath that she had already moved forward with her life and was compelled by a court order to appear in this case.
She stated that she recommended Ventura to part ways with Combs, but she explained that due to her employment, her vehicle, and her residence, she was unable to do so.
During questioning by defense lawyer Marc Agnifilo, Morgan explained that she no longer communicated with Ventura as he failed to offer support following the 2018 event. Furthermore, she made it clear that she does not tolerate any form of physical violence.
Dawn Richard, who was formerly a member of Danity Kane, declared on May 16th that she observed her ex-boyfriend Ventura chasing after his girlfriend in 2009, armed with a skillet filled with eggs.
He stormed down the stairs angrily, shouting, ‘Where on earth are my eggs? You always mess things up, Cassie!’ He continued his rant about his missing food, as per Richard’s court testimony, based on NBC News’ transcript. Upon reaching the skillet containing the eggs, he tried to strike her head, causing her to fall to the ground.
Ventura “went into the fetal position,” Richard continued, “literally trying to hide her head.”
During “freak offs,” Combs didn’t use any baby oil containing mixed drugs, as Ventura testified on May 15th.
2024 saw a legal claim made towards Combs in October, accusing him of adding GHB, also known as the ‘date rape drug’ as Rohypnol, into the oil.
During the defense’s questioning on May 15th, Ventura stated that Combs could become extremely agitated and react violently when she used drugs with others instead of him.
She mentioned that Combs had previously overdosed on painkillers. When Anna Estevao, the defense attorney, inquired whether his ex’s mood changes were related to medication, Ventura responded affirmatively, stating that “it was indeed a contributing factor.
Earlier in the day, she was asked if Combs had a history of drug addiction. In response, she stated, “I’d describe him as an addict.
Her response affirmed that Combs displayed signs of anger or volatility during his withdrawal period.
“I’m not a doctor,” Ventura said, but “coming off of certain pills he would be pretty irritated.”
On May 15, as Ventura testified, Judge Arun Subramanian temporarily adjourned the court proceedings when Combs’ legal team presented graphic emails and messages during their cross-examination.
When attorney Estevao showed Ventura sexual messages exchanged by them as a couple in 2009 to demonstrate their consensual relationship, the defense objected, and the judge agreed with the objection.
After the objection, it appeared that Ventura leaned towards the judge to discuss something quietly, causing the judge to unexpectedly call for a 10-minute recess.
As an overly enthusiastic fan, I can’t help but share my take on a thrilling exchange that unfolded backstage before the jury walked into the courtroom. Lead defense attorney Marc Agnifilo passionately advocated for the presentation of additional texts in the trial, arguing they could sway the case. However, the judge cautioned that certain messages potentially breached federal evidence guidelines.
Nevertheless, several pieces of evidence included statements from Combs and Ventura, where they discussed their intimate sexual experiences in explicit terms.
On May 15th, Ventura stated that although she couldn’t definitively say the exact number, she engaged in “hundreds” of incidents with Combs that she described as not being able to be precisely known.
She claimed that her former partner secretly recorded their intimate acts for potential extortion, threatening to expose them which could damage her professional reputation.
Ventura stated, “He often brought them up when he was distressed. It was quite a regular occurrence. However, it was always unsettling and distressing – I felt threatened for both my job and family. It was shameful and appalling, something no one should ever have to endure.
On May 14, Ventura declared that she received a $20 million settlement from her former boyfriend Combs, following a lawsuit filed in November 2023 accusing him of sexual assault and physical abuse throughout their relationship.
Testifying in court, Ventura stated that following a pleasant dinner at a Malibu restaurant with Combs in 2018, where he was reportedly “very kind,” he subsequently went to her apartment and allegedly committed a sexual assault against her. She clarified that she was already involved in a relationship with Alex Fine, whom she later married in 2019.
In a harrowing account to the court, I recounted that moment when I stepped inside, only to be violently assaulted on my living room floor. All I can recall is the uncontrollable sobbing and pleading for him to stop, but it happened so swiftly. His eyes were devoid of any recognition, they seemed as black as coal, a stark contrast to the man I once knew. It was as if a part of me was being snatched away from me.
Lawyers for Combs contend that no instance of non-consensual sex occurred, and the individuals accusing him of sexual misconduct had given consent to any sexual activities involved.
Ventura stated that she engaged in consensual sexual activity with Combs on one more occasion following the alleged incident. When asked why she opted to be intimate with Combs again, she explained, “You can’t simply switch off feelings like that. I still had a positive perception of who he was as an individual.
2011 saw me, a die-hard fan, witnessing a heartbreaking split between Ventura and Mescudi. As I later learned from court testimony, this separation occurred due to a chilling threat from Combs: “Your car, Scott’s, will be destroyed.
Ventura stated to the court that the situation was fraught with excessive risk and an unpredictable outcome if they persisted in meeting. He explained that Sean had threatened to harm them both.
Departures from Ventura caused her to develop urinary tract infections, mouth ulcers, and digestive problems, as she stated on May 14.
In her court testimony, Ventura explained that we had multiple instances where we’d engage in what we called ‘freak offs’, and they seemed to follow one after another. On some occasions, I even had a ‘freak off’ while dealing with an infection. I attempted to clear it up by flushing it out with water. Eventually, the antibiotic CIPRO became ineffective. It was a chaotic situation.
She continued, “It was really painful for a long time. I can’t believe I actually dealt with that.”
In one of the text conversations presented in court, Ventura informed Combs that she had developed ulcers on her tongue. His response was, “I apologize.
On the second day of his testimony, Ventura detailed the 2016 hotel incident that was captured on CCTV cameras and broadcast by CNN in May 2024.
She stated that Combs hurled a vase at her following an attempt to exit the Intercontinental Hotel before he physically attacked her.
During his testimony on May 14th, Ventura stated, “It seemed to be moving towards me when I recall. It struck the wall instead of me. I wasn’t harmed by it. He was shouting at me, I think he was hurling insults rather than using my name.
However, she said that Combs told her “that I wasn’t going to leave him, that I couldn’t.”
Immediately following the hotel incident, Ventura stated that she was required to attend the debut of her movie “The Perfect Match” with visible injuries including bruises on her face and body, accompanied by Combs. To camouflage her swollen eye and split lip with thick makeup, she also mentioned, “I had numerous bruises on my legs, so I switched my attire.
On May 13th, the singer stated under oath that Diddy assaulted her in the hallway of a Los Angeles hotel back in March 2016, due to his anger over her leaving a “freak-off” event. The video footage of the incident, captured by hotel security cameras, was made public by CNN in 2024. However, the defense’s attempt to prevent this video from being used as evidence was unsuccessful.
According to Ventura, I decided to depart, which I did. Then, Sean accompanied me in the hallway, seized me, pushed me down, kicked me, and forcibly returned me to the room, taking my belongings with him.
She initially didn’t want to join in, but she had a movie premiere approaching within a few days, and she wanted to make sure Combs was satisfied. So, she mentioned, “If I could impress him with some special effort,” Ventura said, “then my event would go smoothly.
After he inflicted a black eye on her, she mentioned, all she could focus on was exiting the place safely. She had an important event coming up and didn’t wish to jeopardize it. Following his shove into the hallway, Ventura stated, she remained on the ground because “she didn’t want him to cause any further harm than he already had.
Testified Ventura, she consumed alcohol and ecstasy during her initial sexual encounter with an escort in the presence of Combs. To get through their encounters she described as “freak offs,” she would use marijuana, ketamine, mushrooms or whatever drug was popularly used at that time.
“I couldn’t imagine myself doing any of that without having some sort of buffer,” she said.
At times, she’d become so overwhelmed that she’d “really retch” during a heated argument, Ventura explained, and Combs would urge me to stand up and carry on with the disagreement.
She expressed to Combs that the behavior labeled as “freak offs” left her feeling extremely bad, even worthless, according to Ventura. However, his response to her worries seemed rather unconcerned.
Following an unusual incident, it was reported that baby oil covered the entire hotel room, according to Ventura’s testimony. If Combs had asked someone to wet the bed, traces of urine might have been found on the linens. Furthermore, if she was menstruating at the time, there could potentially be blood stains not only on the sheets but also on the furniture.
According to Ventura, the act left her feeling deeply embarrassed. She described it as revolting and overwhelming. She gagged, wished she wasn’t in that situation, and felt trapped because there was no easy escape.
According to Ventura, he found it appealing, which is why the event occurred. When Emily A. Johnson, the prosecutor, asked her why she didn’t resist Combs’ instructions in these instances, she explained that she believed it was clear that she did not wish to comply.
On May 13, Ventura stated that Combs instructed her and the other “freak off” performers to apply baby oil all over their bodies.
She stated in court that Sean preferred it hot and shiny,” she said, “so we’d apply something every five minutes to achieve that.
At the Montage Beverly Hills, during one unexpected incident, Ventura claimed that Combs requested her to enter a pool filled with baby oil, which was already inflated, while she was dressed.
She hesitated, but as Sean John “Combs” made it clear that he wanted it to occur, that’s exactly what transpired. “We ended up using ten full-sized bottles of baby oil,” she added.
On May 13th, Ventura disclosed to prosecutors that during the initial phase of her ten-year relationship with Combs, he suggested incorporating voyeurism into their intimate activities. This began when she arranged for an escort and set up a scenario so she could perform for him, with another individual present, whom he would observe.
In time, she admitted that organizing adult acts, which Combs referred to as “freak offs,” turned into regular work for her. These performances could span from 36 hours up to four days.
She remembered, “I arranged for it in our hotel room, and so forth, at first Sean organized it.
Ventura said that her “stomach churned” when he first proposed the experience.
She explained, “I didn’t initially understand how it would arouse him, but I took on the task.” She confessed, “I felt puzzled, anxious, yet deeply loved him and desired his happiness. It wasn’t something I eagerly looked forward to, especially given its frequency, but my love for him was strong.
She admitted, “At some point, I felt I didn’t have much of a choice.”
In a statement, Ventura claimed that Combs frequently displayed violent behavior towards her during their on-again, off-again relationship spanning from 2007 to 2018.
She told the court that indeed the disagreements were intense, often escalating into acts of violence such as hitting her head, pushing her down, pulling her, and kicking her.
She mentioned that she frequently had noticeable injuries, explaining, “I’d develop knots on my forehead, get dark and red eyes, and have bruises covering various parts of my body.
As a lifestyle advisor, I’d put it this way: On the heels of Daniel Philip’s testimony on May 13, Ventura – who is eight months along in her pregnancy – will grace the witness stand with her presence, prior to the jury’s arrival, to ensure a comfortable and efficient courtroom setting for all parties involved.
Defense attorney Marc Agnifilo explained to the judge, “I believe there’s a bias in this situation,” emphasizing that pregnancy carries an inherent charm and can evoke empathy from others.
It was later on that Ventura joined the case, suggesting that his legal team’s motion had been denied by the court prior to this point.
On one particular instance when Ventura didn’t immediately respond to Combs’ call, Philip testified on May 12 that Combs angrily hurled a bottle of liquor towards her, followed by grabbing her by the hair and forcefully pulling her into the bedroom. “She was screaming,” Philip recalled, and from where he was in the next room, it sounded like he was hitting her. Philip added that he heard Combs shouting, “‘I told you to come here, you come here now, not later.’
Phillip said he was “terrified” and did not intervene.
He also stated that on another instance, it seemed to him like Combs was physically attacking Ventura at the Essex House hotel in New York. Philip described hearing a woman saying sorry repeatedly, and someone being struck and thrown around inside the room. He then peeked around the corner and witnessed Combs exiting the hotel without any clothes, possibly only covered by a towel.
Ventura exited the room and landed on Philip’s lap, as he shared in his testimony. “She essentially tried to reassure me that ‘everything will be fine’ and ‘I’ll manage,'” Philip added. “To which I replied, ‘This is not acceptable and you need professional assistance.’
“I tried to explain to her that she was in real danger if she stayed with him,” Phillip said.
In response to questioning by attorney Maureen Comey, Philip stated that he didn’t consider contacting the police because he viewed Combs as a person with immense influence. He implied that even if he had gone to the authorities, there was a possibility he could have still been harmed or put in danger.
Daniel Philip claimed he was being compensated for engaging in intimate acts during the specified timeframe, while Sean Combs watched at Manhattan’s Gramercy Hotel in 2012, as part of a male stripper show. Philip identified Combs through his distinctive voice, even though he wore a robe, a baseball cap, and a bandanna concealing his face.
In my fervor, I shared with the court that Ventura promised to tip me upon my departure. However, things took an unexpected turn; we found ourselves in an intimate moment together. To set the mood, we both used baby oil, spending a few minutes indulging in the experience. Combs chose to occupy a corner, engaging in a private act of his own.
Afterward, the witness continued, Ventura gave him “a couple of thousand more.”
Over the course of the subsequent year, Philip stated that he received repeated invitations for similar experiences involving both Ventura and Combs, not just at hotels but also at their homes in New York. He claimed that Combs videotaped one or two instances where they were having sex with Ventura, and on some occasions, Combs would insert himself into the situation, engaging in sexual acts with Ventura while Philip was present.
In the 2023 legal action she filed against her former partner for charges of sexual assault and physical violence, Ventura claimed that Combs compelled her into engaging in intimate acts with male escorts.
According to Florez’s testimony, Ventura appeared fearful. She had pulled her hood over her head and seemed to be hiding in the corner. The floor was littered with pieces of a shattered flower vase.
After Ventura departed from the hotel, Florez stated that she had a noticeable purple eye. Following her exit, Florez claimed he and the desk manager ascended to the upper floors to reiterate the “hotel regulations” to Combs. According to Florez, Combs believed the manager was secretly recording him on his phone and attempted to seize it. He then tried to grab Florez’s phone when this occurred, as Florez recounted, prompting him to pin Combs against a wall. “We clarified we weren’t recording him,” Florez testified, “and diffused the situation.
In court, the prosecution played back the surveillance video from the attack, which had been slowed down compared to the version released by CNN in May 2024. This was done to counter the defense’s claim that the initial clip was speeded up, making the altercation seem more violent than it actually was. Additionally, the jury watched a video that Florez recorded on his phone when he responded to an emergency call about a distressed woman on the sixth floor.
According to Florez, Ventura refused to discuss what had occurred and instead preferred to depart. That’s why Florez didn’t contact the authorities right away.
Police Officer Israel Florez, stationed in Los Angeles, served as a security guard at the InterContinental Hotel on the day Sean Combs allegedly assaulted Terry Ventura on March 5, 2016. During her initial statement, Geragos described the surveillance footage of the attack (initially disclosed by CNN in May 2024) as substantial evidence of domestic violence; however, it was not primarily related to sex trafficking, but rather stemmed from infidelity uncovered on a mobile device.
On May 12th, Florez testified that he witnessed a scuffle that occurred on the day in question, and subsequently, Combs gave him a pile of cash as an attempt to persuade him to ignore the incident.
During questioning, Florez stated that he was completely convinced the gesture was an attempt by Combs to offer him a bribe.
