The collaboration between Marvel and Netflix initially showed promise but eventually became disorganized. While it began with a bang, the series eventually lost steam, prompting Netflix to sever ties as Marvel Studios aimed to expand the Marvel Cinematic Universe on television. However, years later, fragments of the Defenders Saga are resurfacing within the main Marvel Cinematic Universe. For instance, Charlie Cox’s Daredevil and Jon Bernthal’s Punisher have reappeared. Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones has also been given another opportunity, landing a role in Daredevil: Born Again for Season 2, as the main character gears up to form an army to combat Kingpin and his Anti-Vigilante Task Force.

Jones possesses a greater potential than certain Netflix characters, not due to her supernatural abilities, but rather because of her long-standing involvement in a significant Marvel Cinematic Universe enigma. Her ability to unravel the mystery with just one line of dialogue upon her television comeback sets her apart.

Jessica Jones Had to Make a Tough Choice in Season 3 of Her Netflix Show

In my humble opinion as a movie critic, Jessica Jones Season 1 finds our titular hero grappling with a troubled present. Amidst her efforts to establish a private investigation service, she struggles to shake off the shadows of her past, which are deeply entwined with the manipulative villain Kilgrave and his mind-bending powers. Yet, Jessica is not fighting alone; she has her reliable confidante, Trish Walker, standing by her side. Trish, a popular radio host in the bustling metropolis of New York City, yearns to make a more substantial impact, often questioning if her current role is sufficient. Witnessing Jessica’s extraordinary abilities, Trish becomes eager to join the fray. Consequently, she decides to participate in an experiment that bestows upon her enhanced durability and retractable claws, among other remarkable traits.

As a passionate movie enthusiast, I’d rephrase it like this: After barely surviving the ordeal of the experiment, I found myself feeling rather empowered and transformed into “Hellcat,” dishing out justice wherever I saw fit on the bustling city streets. However, the power seemed to corrupt me swiftly, leading me to put my friend Jones in a precarious position. To prevent further harm, Jones was forced to subdue me and deliver me to the authorities. But here’s the twist – with my unique abilities, I can’t be locked up in an ordinary jail, making this situation increasingly bizarre.

The MCU’s Most Important Prison Is Getting Pretty Full

In my opinion, the Marvel Netflix series may not include an overt Easter egg from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in every episode, but they certainly weave intricate connections. One standout example is the appearance of The Raft prison, initially glimpsed in Captain America: Civil War as a facility to detain Steve Rogers’ allies following the battle in Germany. Although Cap manages to free his friends swiftly, the cells soon fill up again when Luke Cage’s brother, Diamondback, and Jones both send their respective enemies there. Initially, it seems insignificant due to its infrequent mentions. However, as more significant MCU villains such as Baron Zemo, Samuel Sterns, and Thaddeus Ross join the inmates, it becomes evident that there must be some new development regarding Walker’s situation.

It’s quite plausible that the Blip incident may have facilitated some jail breaks, as by then, Jessica Jones had already concluded its run, so there was no need to bring it up. However, with Jessica Jones making a comeback, it’s clear that things will change, especially since her absence during the past few years is certain to be addressed. The Marvel Cinematic Universe might be able to postpone dealing with Walker for a while as Matt and his team work on reclaiming New York, but it would be unjust to Jessica’s character to ignore her entirely. Even a fleeting scene in the prison cells would be appropriate at this point to discuss Netflix’s Raft facility and whether Walker is still serving time for her crimes there.
