If you’re seeking some laughter this summer while relaxing at home, Netflix has got you sorted in June! A hilarious comedy that has made waves in the last decade, Neighbors, will be available for streaming, and it’s an absolute must-watch for fans of Seth Rogen, who is currently garnering praise for his critically acclaimed series The Studio. Additionally, those who wish to reminisce about a chiseled Zac Efron portraying the ultimate frat boy antics will find it particularly appealing.

As per What’s on Netflix, the comedy movie “Neighbors” will be available starting June 1, making it a great choice for anyone seeking light-hearted fun during the summer. Directed by Nicholas Stoller with a screenplay penned by Andrew J. Cohen and Brendan O’Brien, “Neighbors” tells the story of a pair who find themselves in conflict with a fraternity that has settled next door, escalating into a full-blown neighborhood feud. Apart from Rogen and Efron, the film also features Rose Byrne, Dave Franco, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse.

‘Neighbors’ Was a Big Hit Upon Release

The film titled “Neighbors” was both critically acclaimed and financially profitable upon its debut. It garnered a 73% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with the general consensus being that it lived up to its R-rating and made audiences laugh due to its balanced humor spread across its star-studded cast. Domestically, it grossed an impressive $150.2 million at the box office, while internationally it brought in a total of $270.7 million. All this was achieved on a relatively low budget of $18 million. At the time of its release, “Neighbors” had the third-highest U.S. opening weekend for an R-rated comedy non-sequel, trailing only behind “Sex and the City” ($57 million) and “Ted” ($54.4 million).

In my opinion, the initial success of “Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising” (2016) warranted a follow-up. This comedy finds me, as a reviewer, revisiting the Radner family, portrayed by Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne, who are now grappling with a new challenge – a sorority moving in next door while they attempt to sell their home, currently in escrow. To aid them in this predicament, they enlist the help of Teddy Sanders, played by Zac Efron, a seasoned veteran in instigating neighborhood feuds. The principal cast from the original film returned for the sequel, joined by Chloë Grace Moretz, Kelsey Grammer, Awkwafina, Billy Eichner, and Selena Gomez.

The follow-up movie received moderate praise, earning a 64% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics generally agreed that while “Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising” wasn’t essential, it managed to extract a good deal of laughter from an old concept with a fresh twist for women. Nevertheless, the movie didn’t perform as well at the box office as its first installment, earning $55.4 million in the U.S., $108.8 million globally, all on a production budget of $35 million.
