Baby meets world.
Ben Savage has made an announcement – he and his partner, Tessa Angermeier, are anticipating their first child together. The former star of “Boy Meets World” revealed this wonderful news on Instagram on May 20th. He did so by sharing two pictures; one depicting him and Tessa holding images from an ultrasound, while they stand amidst a beautiful palm tree-lined street.
The 44-year-old captioned his post, “Arriving this fall.”
In the photo, Tessa is seen sporting a worn-out black denim jacket atop a long black dress, paired with black sandals. Meanwhile, Ben opted for a navy work shirt layered over a blue dress shirt and jeans.
Among the actors from the show “Boy Meets World,” at least one of them expressed their well-wishes by commenting on a post, with Maitland Ward specifically saying “Congratulations to both of you!” accompanied by heart and confetti emojis.
People affectionately made humorous references to the popular series, with one individual quipping, “I’m telling Topanga,” a nod to Ben’s romantic interest on the show, portrayed by Danielle Fishel, while another person suggested, “Let’s call him Cory Matthews Savage,” alluding to the character he played for seven years.
Tessa and Ben shared their exciting news about becoming parents, which arrives exactly two years following their marriage in March 2023. Their nuptials took place just a few months after the actor who starred on “Girl Meets World” proposed to them.
I’ve been absolutely thrilled ever since Ben declared on Instagram that our best moments lie ahead, as he announced their engagement after five years of shared love. It was also confirmed by a representative for the actor, who shared with TopMob News that we’re both deeply appreciative and reveling in this joyous period, surrounded by our beloved families and friends.
It’s possible that maintaining contact with his “Boy Meets World” co-stars might have been one of the things he had to let go. This year, Will Friedle publicly stated that Ben has been distant or unresponsive in recent times.
Kim Possible’s star expressed on the February 24th episode of their co-hosted ‘Pod Meets World’ podcast, Danielle and Rider Strong, that Ben is among the most significant individuals he has encountered in his life. However, it’s a source of frustration for him that Ben refuses to communicate with us. And that’s the crux of the matter: Ben simply won’t talk to us.
For the past three years, I’ve been keeping a record of all messages, and just recently, during a chat with Ben, he suddenly stopped responding. It’s puzzling because one day, without any explanation, Ben decided he no longer wanted to be part of my life.” (The 48-year-old added.)
It’s possible that maintaining connections with his former “Boy Meets World” co-stars may have been one of the things he has given up or let go recently, as Will Friedle mentioned this year that Ben has been out of touch with him.
Among all the individuals I’ve encountered throughout my life, Ben holds a special place, and it’s genuinely distressing that we can’t seem to communicate with him. On the recent episode of our shared podcast, “Pod Meets World,” I expressed this sentiment alongside Danielle and Rider Strong, stating quite frankly, “He simply refuses to engage with us.
The individual stated, “Over the past three years, I can provide you with all the messages, including a recent exchange with Ben where he suddenly ended our conversation without notice.” As for Ben, it seems one day he simply decided, ‘I no longer wish to be associated with Will,’ and chose not to explain his reasons.
In my role as a lifestyle expert, I’d like to share an intriguing tale from the world of celebrity friendships, focusing on the former costars of Boy Meets World – Danielle Fishel (Topanga) and Maitland Ward (Rachel). Although the show wasn’t a drama, their recent conversation on Pod Meets World was filled with tension.
It all started in 2013 when Maitland sent Danielle a congratulatory message on Facebook regarding her engagement to ex-husband Tim Belusko and the Boy Meets World spin-off, Girl Meets World. However, Danielle admitted she didn’t see this message at the time. It was only when Maitland mentioned the message in the media years later that Danielle decided to look for it—finding it buried in her “graveyard” of Direct Messages.
Danielle then reached out to costar and podcast co-host Will Friedle (Eric) for Maitland’s phone number to apologize, but Maitland wasn’t ready for a private conversation at that point. According to Danielle, Maitland told Will she would save the conversation for the podcast and “shake things up.” However, Maitland clarified that she didn’t want to speak to Danielle because she felt her approach was “insincere.”
Maitland further pointed out that Danielle had unfriended her on Facebook as proof of her insincerity. But Danielle insisted she never intentionally did so. This fascinating story serves as a reminder that even in the world of celebrity friendships, misunderstandings can occur and sometimes take years to resolve.
The dispute between them didn’t stop at the beef. In addition, on the podcast, Maitland expressed that Danielle barely interacted with her when they met again in 2014 for Girl Meets World, which Danielle found hurtful as she had invited her to her 2006 wedding and considered them friends.
Danielle admitted there were no issues between them at the time, but mentioned they hadn’t seen or spoken since the wedding. She also hinted that she didn’t have a great experience working on Girl Meets World, but clarified it wasn’t about Maitland.
However, Maitland alleged that Danielle was resentful towards her due to the attention Maitland was receiving in the adult entertainment industry at the time. Danielle denied this, pointing out she posed for Maxim in 2014.
Maitland also accused Danielle, Will and their cohost Rider Strong (Shawn) of being negative on Pod Meets World and disliking costar Ben Savage (Cory) and Boy Meets World creator Michael Jacobs (though she later retracted this statement, saying they only had disagreements).
The podcast cohosts made it clear they did not hate Ben or Michael, but were simply sharing their experiences from the show.
When Maitland accused Danielle of trying to stir up drama for ratings, Danielle refuted this, stating that it was actually Maitland who was using this opportunity to gain attention.
Danielle mentioned she and Maitland don’t need to be friends, but emphasized, “I don’t dislike Maitland, not even a little bit.
14 years following the conclusion of “Boy Meets World,” Ben and Danielle resurfaced in their roles as Cory and Topanga on the spin-off series, “Girl Meets World” – a humorous show that chronicled the life of their daughter Riley (Rowan Blanchard), her friend Maya (Sabrina Carpenter) and their daily experiences at home and school. The program aired on Disney Channel from 2014 to 2017, but Danielle openly expressed it as a challenging set environment in her podcast.
Back in February 2025, during an episode of Pod Meets World, she candidly shared her feelings: “To put it straight, the joy and camaraderie we experienced on Boy Meets World were nowhere to be found in Girl Meets World. Frankly, I had high hopes for it, but it fell short. The environment was turbulent, and I often felt excluded, criticized, and a range of other emotions while working there.”
Reaching out to Disney for comment, TopMob News is yet to receive a response.
In the spirit of Mr. Feeny’s wisdom, friendship is an extraordinary gift that requires no strings attached and no obligation for gratitude among true friends. However, my dear companions Danielle, Rider, and I found ourselves at a loss when we hadn’t heard from Ben in three years. It felt as though he had vanished without a trace.
I can’t fathom the reason behind his sudden disappearance. We didn’t have any disagreements or fallouts. There was no hostility, yet one day, it seemed like he decided to cut ties with us. I even tried reaching out, sending him a text and promising to call daily until he responded. This went on for about a month, but alas, he remained silent.
Despite our current estrangement, my heart still yearns for Ben. Though we may harbor disagreements, I continue to cherish him and wish only the best for him. I believe that one day, our story will have a new chapter. But until then, time alone will reveal the answer.
Ben has yet to respond, maintaining his silence on the matter, as well as declining TopMob News’ request for comment. Nevertheless, we remain hopeful that our bond will be rekindled in the future. As I expressed during a 2025 episode of ‘Pod Meets World’, Ben holds a special place in my heart, and it pains me deeply that he won’t communicate with us anymore.
In January 2020, Trina McGee (Angela), during a public statement, shared her experiences of disrespect on the set of “Boy Meets World”, including an incident where she was referred to as ‘Aunt Jemima’.
Later, she disclosed that Will, the actor in question, made the comment and had apologized to her 22 years ago and again more recently, via a three-page letter.
In an Instagram post in April 2020, she wrote: “This could be a learning moment for everyone.”
Ultimately, Trina McGee and Will reconciled their differences.
Trina shared that Will apologized to her, to which she offered forgiveness. In turn, she apologized to him for making the incident public because he had not intended any harm. “That’s what friends do,” she said.
In 2022 on ‘Pod Meets World’, Will recalled the event. He saw Trina exiting her dressing room wearing a large red headscarf, and assuming it was just teasing like he did with the rest of the cast, he jokingly commented, “I love your syrup.”
Trina made him aware that the joke wasn’t appropriate, and Will felt mortified, acknowledging that the moment had a profound impact on his life.
“You can’t casually say something you think is funny and expect no consequences,” he said. “You might be hurting people.
In the podcast discussion, Trina and her co-stars clarified the circumstances surrounding Trina’s departure from Boy Meets World.
Trina appeared for the last time in a 2000 episode titled “Angela’s Ashes,” but she was absent during the series finale. It was believed that this decision was made by the rest of the cast, a notion that Trina held onto for years.
On a 2022 episode of Pod Meets World, Trina shared that she had been informed in a casual manner by someone important that the others had gone to Michael Jacobs and requested her exclusion from the final episode. The sentiment was that she was somehow dimming their light.
Trina felt hurt by this perceived competitiveness for many years. However, Danielle, Will, and Rider all vehemently denied that such a conversation ever took place, with Danielle swearing on her children and Will swearing on his marriage.
“I’m sorry, you call that competitiveness. To me, that’s sociopathy,” Will expressed his anger upon hearing the rumor. “This angers me.”
Trina eventually came to believe them and they were able to reconcile. As she explained, “When it enters your mind and then you’re quiet, the silence grows, and then the whole picture of it becomes larger than life and greater than what it truly is.”
Later on, Trina reflected, “I enjoy trusting you. It feels really good.
Danielle has acknowledged her past behavior towards Trina on the set of “Girl Meets World” and expressed regret. In a tweet from June 2020, she admitted to being rude, cold, and distant when Trina guest-starred on the show. They discussed how they were often portrayed as rivals, particularly regarding rumors surrounding Trina’s exit. In a 2022 episode of “Pod Meets World”, Danielle mentioned that their initial interaction might have given Trina the impression that she was not welcomed or liked. However, after talking privately, they wished they had communicated earlier as they could have supported each other during difficult times. The main takeaway is the importance of open communication in fostering understanding and personal growth.
Following the departure of the original Topanga actress and Danielle’s subsequent casting, she underwent her first producer review and prepared for Michael’s feedback. During this session, as Danielle recounted on Pod Meets World in 2022, Michael began by saying, “Danielle, I’ll provide you with all your notes at once, and I’ll give everyone else their notes now.” He explained that if he went through all his notes for her, it would keep everyone there for hours and no one would be able to leave.
Danielle recalled this happening in front of everyone, and she became emotional. Michael worked through each line with her and her mother, instructing Danielle on changes she needed to make, such as speaking more slowly. As Danielle remembered him saying, “If you don’t come back tomorrow doing this entirely differently, you won’t be here either,” referring to the girl I had replaced.
Danielle and her mother rehearsed until 3 or 4 a.m. to perfect her lines, which she said was to make Michael happy. The next day, after Danielle completed the network run-through, Michael gave her a standing ovation.
In response, Michael expressed regret over Danielle’s perspective and stated that “there was more” to the story on a 2023 episode of Reel Talker. He explained, “She feels that her job was threatened, I believe. It was, but it wasn’t by me. I was trying to save it, which we did. She saved it.”
Michael also emphasized that he “always believed in her” and still does.
In the 2024 documentary titled “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV,” it became public knowledge that Will and Rider were among numerous celebrities who wrote letters in support of dialogue coach Brian Peck.
Brian Peck was arrested in 2003 and indicted for “lewd acts with a child.” A Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) release stated, “the minor’s family reported that Peck had molested the child.” In the documentary, Drake Bell came forward as the minor.
According to court records obtained by NBC News, Brian pleaded no contest and was convicted of “lewd or lascivious acts” and oral copulation of a minor. He received a 16-month prison sentence.
In an episode of “Pod Meets World,” Will stated that Brian tried to shift the blame, but “the fault of his victim.” Rider mentioned that Brian “admitted to one thing,” but they were unaware of the full extent of the crimes for which Brian was convicted at the time.
Will and Rider also appeared in court to support Brian. Will recalled their experience in court, saying, “We were sitting in that courtroom on the wrong side of everything—of course having no idea of this—filled with child actors to the point where the victim’s mother turned and said, ‘Look at all the famous people you brought with you and it doesn’t change what you did to my kid,'” adding, “And I just sat there wanting to die where it was like, ‘What the hell am I doing here?'”
Drake has since forgiven Will and Rider. As Will shared in another podcast episode, Drake told him, “‘Before you say a word, I want you to know I love you and I forgive you.’
