We’re unsure how to categorize MindsEye, a shooter game for PlayStation 5, developed by former Rockstar Games head Leslie Benzies.

It’s not surprising given the hype surrounding the game, but surprisingly little is known about the developer MindsEye, who significantly contributed to the development of Grand Theft Auto as it is today. Yet, with just a few weeks left until its release on June 10th, we’ve seen very little information about them.

What’s intriguing is how puzzling these gameplay clips become given the enigmatic nature of MindsEye’s promotional materials, which seem to lack depth and clarity, especially in the case of these brief videos.

Last week, a brief sneak peek showcased a blend of third-person shooting and driving, which garnered somewhat subdued responses. In our coverage, we polled our readers about their feelings towards MindsEye, and it’s only fair to mention that nearly half of you (49%) expressed some level of interest in the game.

Approximately 39% chose the response “Something feels amiss, I’m not sure,” and it’s important to note that this is our current situation.

To illustrate, MindsEye recently released two fresh gameplay previews. The first one features a rather dull driving scene accompanied by unconvincing chat dialogues. On the contrary, the second video presents a gunfight sequence using cover tactics that appear somewhat rudimentary.

Noticeably, MindsEye seems to evoke old-school, modestly impressive AA shooters from past eras. However, it’s the sharing of rather unengaging video snippets that has people questioning the game.

As a keen enthusiast, I’m eagerly wondering about MindsEye. Will it soon astonish us with an impressive gameplay demonstration, or are my anticipations starting to feel like unfounded hope? Don’t forget to dodge before reloading your thoughts in the comment section below.
