In the game Pokemon Go, numerous uncommon Pokemon have been introduced over time, but none are as elusive as the Galarian Legendary Birds – Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres. So far, these birds can only be found in the wild using Daily Adventure Incense, but even then, they’re quite hard to come by. To add to the challenge, they often flee quickly. For players who are persistently searching for these Galarian Birds, Niantic has revealed a new method that will be introduced in the game next month, although it will carry a cost.

Starting on June 23rd, the Ancients Recovered Timed Research: Fleeting Legends ticket in Pokemon Go can be bought for $7.99 from the Shop. This ticket provides Timed Research that guarantees an encounter with one of the Galarian Legendary Birds – either Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, or Galarian Moltres. Note that this Timed Research will only be accessible until June 29th at 6 p.m., local time.

As a dedicated gamer, I’m curious about how fellow Pokémon Go enthusiasts will react to this new development. The monetization aspect of this game has always been a sensitive topic, with strong feelings on both sides. While Galarian Birds can still be obtained daily by everyone using Adventure Incense, some might argue that it creates a de facto paywall. To be fair, we’ve seen Mythical Pokémon hidden behind event tickets before, so this isn’t entirely new territory. However, the question remains: will players feel that this is a fair approach or another barrier to entry for non-paying gamers?

In a downloadable content (DLC) for Pokemon Sword and Shield, the Galarian Legendary Birds made their debut. These regional versions present unique interpretations of the original trio that originated from Pokemon Red and Green. Not only do they have distinct appearances, but the Galarian Birds also have diverse types: Articuno becomes a Psychic/Flying type, Zapdos transforms into a Fighting/Flying type, and Moltres evolves into a Dark/Flying type. Last year, Pokemon Go introduced Shiny variants of the trio, each preserving the color patterns from the Kanto region. Currently, it’s unclear what the odds will be for encountering these Shinies upon purchasing tickets.

Typically, when it comes to Time Research tickets in Pokemon Go, there are certain restrictions on their purchase. Firstly, PokeCoins won’t work; these tickets can only be bought with real money. On a positive note, players can buy and gift the tickets to friends if they have reached or surpassed the level of Great Friends. As for whether players can buy multiple tickets for themselves during the event, Niantic has not yet clarified this point, though it remains unconfirmed as of now.
