As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for love stories that truly resonate, I must say that Malika Andrews and Dave McMenamin’s union is nothing short of inspiring. Their journey, from a chance encounter at Madison Square Garden to tying the knot at the foot of the Golden Gate Bridge, is a testament to their shared passion for basketball and the magic that can unfold when two souls collide in the most unexpected ways.

As far as love stories go, this one is a slam dunk.

On August 24th, sports broadcaster Malika Andrews, who hosts ESPN’s NBA Today and NBA Countdown, got married to her colleague Dave McMenamin, an NBA reporter for the network. The happy couple exchanged vows at Cavallo Point, located beneath the iconic Golden Gate Bridge.

In an interview with Vogue, published on August 27th, Malika expressed her profound joy, stating, “I was filled to the brim with happiness. It surpassed all my expectations,” and she added, “What touched me even more was Dave holding onto my hand throughout it all.”

She added, “My cheeks still hurt from smiling so much on our wedding day. Worth it.”

At the ceremony, the 29-year-old donned a wedding dress inspired by Grace Kelly and tailored by Lotus Bridal in Brooklyn, paired with a long veil. Meanwhile, Dave, aged 41, opted for a navy tuxedo. This is as reported by Vogue. Later in the evening, the bride switched to a mini-dress reminiscent of Halston’s mirror ball design for the reception. At Malika’s wedding, a relative who was close to us served as the officiant. The service blended customs from Malika’s Jewish background, showcasing a flowery canopy (chuppah) and the shattering of a glass, with elements from Dave’s Catholic faith as well.

The gathering featured elements that honored their mutual career, like basketball-inspired ornaments such as a seating arrangement mimicking an NBA competition chart, and a hoop and net fashioned from sparkling beads above a banner saying, “United, we form the ultimate team.”

They crossed paths in the year 2017 during a live broadcast of the New York Knicks versus Cleveland Cavaliers match at Madison Square Garden, as reported by Vogue magazine.

Nevertheless, Malika and Dave, the couple who got engaged towards the end of 2022, have chosen to keep their romance out of the public eye.

In a post they shared on their Instagram, Malika expressed that when one desires something, the entire universe seems to collaborate to help make it happen. She wrote, “When you want something, the universe cooperates in making it happen for you. 8.24.24.”
