Eva Mendes Admits She Felt "Lost" After Having Kids With Ryan Gosling

As a dedicated follower of Eva Mendes’ career and personal life, I find it truly inspiring to witness her evolution as a mother and actress. Her honesty about the challenges and joys of motherhood resonates deeply with me, as I too have navigated the complexities of raising children while pursuing my own dreams.

Eva Mendes is still learning new things about motherhood.

The actress known for “The Hitch” has been open about her journey raising her two daughters, Esmeralda Amada (age 10) and Amada Lee (age 8), with Ryan Gosling, as well as discussing how her emotions have evolved as they grow up.

Despite many new mothers feeling disoriented at the start of their motherhood journey, this 50-year-old woman expressed that immediately postpartum, she experienced a sense of clarity instead.

Eva shared on The Drew Barrymore Show (on Sept. 19) that she felt adrift, if you catch my drift, and then she mentioned a familiar scenario: “What do I become once the children are able to fend for themselves?

While her children are still young, “They don’t need me every second.”

She noted, “Things are slightly altered, yet I find immense satisfaction in conversing with my friends about any topic.

Lately, she has been discussing her acting career with them, but it seems neither Esmeralda nor Amada are eager to buy tickets for the shows just yet.

In an appearance on The Tonight Show last Sept. 18, the author of Desi, Mami, and The Never-Ending Worries recounted that approximately a year prior, they tried to impress others with a scene from Hitch that they were particularly proud of, given their fear of deep, dark water. Specifically, they had to perform a physical comedy stunt in the Hudson River, which terrified them. However, they overcame their anxiety and successfully completed the stunt, taking pride in having confronted their fear on that day.

Eva hoped the situation would enable her daughters to confront their anxieties and at the same time offer her an opportunity to demonstrate my skills.

She had played it for them, and she said something along the lines of, “‘This is a song about Mama conquering her fears,'” she reminisced. However, they didn’t seem to be moved by it in the slightest!

Eva joked, “They were just like, ‘Oh, cool, Mama! Can we go outside?'”

Regarding a possible return to acting on the big screen for Eva after a decade-long absence, she remains uncertain about it.

“I don’t know,” she recently said on Good Morning America. “If there’s interesting roles.”

However, she clarified that upon starting a family with Ryan, she decided to take a break from acting. This was largely due to the fact that she had already accomplished something that many view as a career milestone.

She enthusiastically shared, “I felt like saying, ‘I’ve just collaborated with Ryan Gosling, who’s simply amazing!’ during our work on 2012’s The Place Beyond the Pines. The experience was absolutely career-defining for me, working alongside him. I remember thinking, ‘Maybe it’s time to, well, mimic a bit of Seinfeld and just casually exit.’

But Eva isn’t writing it off completely, coyly adding, “Who knows?”
